I sold my 2017 GLE350 with 105k and in my view it could have gone to 200k with aggressive attention to maintenance. Transmission is the weak link on this car.

2016 GLE400 - I'm around 76k U.S. miles. I drive mine across states (2k plus miles road trips). No issue except for that annoying coffee cup driving long distance, lol. It took me by surprise when I first saw it on my dash.

Besides what’s in the service manual, is there anything else you recommend? I do all my scheduled maintenance at an indy and baby the truck, but I’m at 80k and nervous already. I’m putting on about 20k a year due to getting a better job further away from home. I’d really like to make it to 150-175k before having to invest in another car, especially with the interest rates and car prices these days.

Normal replacement items for high mileage vehicles (not all of these are on MB’s list but I do/did them):

Ignition coils
poly-v belt
Front and rear axle oil
transfer case oil
top and bottom radiator hoses at 125k or so

I did my ignition coils at around 65k when my spark plugs went, and will do them every time the plugs go as I’m told it’s easier that way due to the labor costs involved with getting to the coils, but I didn’t have the other items on my radar. Thank you!!

What's ballpark figure for these at a good indie shop? Just curious.

Estimated labor times below. Parts cost can be looked up online, or check my DIY in the signature where I listed most parts costs that I purchased.

Labor cost can be estimated if assuming $100/hr for indy shop labor. MB dealer labor is close to $200/hr depending on city/region/market.

Ignition coils 1 extra hour when combined with spark plug job
Poly-v belt 30 minute actual time, probably they would bill 1 hour
Front and rear axle oil 2-3 hours total or maybe 2 hours per axle if done individually
Transfer case oil 1-2 hours
Top and bottom radiator hoses maybe 4 hours because coolant needs to be drained and refilled

Thank you. It's nice to read thru your DIY posts. While I may never do any DIY, at the very least, it informs me as a reference which is helpful when speaking with and asking questions to service advisors/mechanics--to make sure the work being performed is thorough.

MB coils $72 each from a dealer last year.

Poly-v belt $47 from a dealer last year.

I will post the t/case and axle oil prices when I dig through my hardcopy files.

I figured out how to turn it off but every time I shut the motor off at the rest stop or at the gas station. It reset it back on, lol.

I have about 65000 on my 2016 diesel. I'm very happy with it. I do my own maintenance where possible. This vehicle has been very reliable.

I lube up all the seals from windows, doors and rear door, moonroof, etc. with Nextzett 91480615 'Gummi Pflege Stift' Rubber Care Stick. You can order it on Amazon

Thanks for all the replies. I bought a 2017 GLE 350 with 69k miles. Bought the car from a friend who drove it 32k miles travelling around the US over the last year and a half.
Going into a B Service shortly. Will keep everyone posted as we progress. Im back to the MBWolrd after a 17 year hiatus.

Thanks for the feedback.

I took mine to an Indy shop
Changed spark plugs and oil
Air, Cabin and Oil Filters
Forgot about the coils…..darn…

The car runs like a champ

Will do the crankcase oil, axle oil and poly v belt on the next service.
Coils will have to wait for the next spark plug change our a bad coil.
