Remote start
Hello peeps
I’ve just registered here, please don’t blame me for some newbie’s questions.
Waiting to get my preowned GLE450, 2022 US specs.
The place I live in gets extremely hot in summer.
The cars I owned during the past 10 years had remote start conventionally from the key fob.
What I understand, it’s quite impossible to have it on MB, but it can work with a sort of an application.
Will I be able to register and use the app, providing it’s an imported vehicle from another country market?
The car is going to be driven in the UAE.
Are there any location restrictions?
unfortunately dealers cannot answer these questions.
TIA

In USA, starting with MY 2015 you can have remote start by Mercedes ME app.
We also have MB USA hotline to answer questions where dealer fails.

As said above. US spec models have remote start via the Mercedes me connect app. It's part of the paid Mercedes me connect subscription. It's not available in markets where remote start is not legal, so in those markets the service is disabled. However, in your case the bigger problem is that you won't be able to activate the Mercedes me connect services in the UAE with a car imported from the US. Mercedes me connect doesn't roam between continents and the LTE modem in the car isn't a "world phone". Cellular services use different frequency bands across the world, but even if the modem supported the bands used in the UAE, the backend won't allow the services to be activated in the UAE, because the car has a US VIN and is coded for the North America region. I'm actually curious, why are so many cars being imported to the Middle East? Are these not sold there? There have been several threads of members from the Middle East asking about activating Mercedes me on imported cars and the answer is always the same. You can't do it unless the car was built for the Asian region in the first place.

The answer is that the wrecked cars that don’t pass the US safety standards are still ok for the ME market as it’s not regulated here.
I’ve seen some vehicles that were listed for 8k, and after repair in the ME get sold here for 20+.
People generally don’t understand the issues such cars come with, nor they care about own safety.
On the other hand, there are some decent options that survived minor accidents, but after repair they are way cheaper than the local ones.
Thanks for the answer about remote start.
It’s very unfortunate it can’t be used here.
Meanwhile I’ve seen some bits of info about aftermarket solutions. Got to study them, as I generally don’t appreciate intrusive installations.

I honestly don't know the answer but if you have a 2022 model, it's possible. I'd suggest going to the Mercedes Me site (for the US, it's https://www.mbusa.com/en/mercedes-me-connect. Might be different for UAE). You can create an account and set it up with your vehicle, although I don't know if you can select the country of origin for the vehicle. There should be a telephone number listed in the FAQ (US number is 800-367-6372) as well that may be of use. The Mercedes Me people are dedicated to the service rather than to the vehicle so there's at least a decent chance that you'll be able to find an answer.

We have some coverage we're about ready to release for the newer 167 chassis vehicles that are gas only. If they have the "mild hybrid drive" as part of the build, we don't cover them quite yet, but we certainly will in the not so distant future.
