16 vs 17 GLE63S

16 vs 17 GLE63S
I have driven a 17 but not a 16. A couple questions;
- Do they have the same exhaust? The 17 sounds incredible. Louder then my CL63 with a cutout. The 17 I looked at has a U21 Sport Exhaust I have not seen listed on a 16.
- Did the 16 start getting android auto after a certain build date or is it 17+ only?
- If no android auto on the 16, is the retrofit really just a quick code?
- Is distronic steering assist more or less the same?

The only documentation from Mercedes in the GLE Coupe 63S I have ever seen in terms of difference between 16 and 17 is the Mobile Chip. 17 started using Verizon instead of ATT Which to this day continues to be an unfriendly mobile service when it comes to connectivity. I carry ATT an md Verizon phones while traveling, so I can’t see the difference. Verizon is still not perfect but much better in most areas.

IIRC, '16 was a transition year and they started offering carplay/android auto mid-year. So it depends on the build date. Software upgrade is not possible, have to replace the entire entertainment stack.

Thanks, thats what I am looking for. The one I am looking at was built in 15 so thats pretty much a no go, not worth the 1-2k savings over a 17.

Not to hijack the thread but what exactly is the difference between a 166 GLE63 and GLE63s? I looked and can't seem to find what separates the two other than the emblem. Is the ECU tune different?

I'm currently annoyed on the daily without this until I get an upgrade lol

Sure; not an amazing deal but a good one. Loaded Premium 3, 41k miles, $66k. Not CPO or anything though, those seem to go for 10k more. I have bought a few CPO cars in the past and it never seems to actually pay off.
