Hey guys!
I cant accept myself to buy a car over MSRP, I've been looking to buy a 2022 GLE53 coupe, and everywhere I've requested info they are asking 20k over MSPR. Its crazy.......
Does anyone know a dealer that I could place an order and pay MSRP? I've seen some posts that you have placed an order, what is the price you are paying for them?
Is there another way of doing this?
Im about to throw the towel and buy something else
Any help is appreciarted

I’m located in VA Beach, VA and my dealership is honoring MSRP if the customers are local to the area. Ordered my 22 GLE 53 AMG Coupe JUL21 for SEP21 delivery but was delayed and now has been released to carrier and waiting for it to arrive any day now.

It's a low production vehicle produced in even lower numbers due to Covid supply issues.

My dealership isn't $20k over but they aren't MSRP either.

I really hope you are able to place an order at MSRP. I had a similar experience in the SF bay area. They were all charging me similar markup. One dealer said he'd place a custom order for me and try to do MSRP when it arrives. I heard that Porsche is doing MSRP for Cayenne custom orders (if you're willing to wait). So, I was able to divert the budget from "Mercedes dealer markup" and place an order for a similarly specced Cayenne. I understand that a Cayenne is not the same as GLE53. Just that I can't come to terms with paying even 1K over MSRP.

They are 20K over MSRP in Chicagoland when you can find one. I was there last Monday and they sold a new ESQ580 FOR 50k over list. My buddy tried to order a G-wagon and he's bought a lot of cars from them. They wanted 150K over list so he bought an Aston Martin SUV. He bought two new Ferraris, too. I doubt he'll ever buy a Mercedes again.

I feel your pain. Paid MSRP in December 2020 for my 2021 GLE63s coupe and felt violated. Have never paid MSRP for a car in my life. That said the dealer had 2 63s coupes and no one else had any - none to be found. Looking back at the buy decision now, I am glad I bit the bullet. However, if I were in the market now, I'd just wait for the insanity to cease before buying a new car.

Best of luck to you.

Unfortunately it is the market. If you cannot make yourself do it then do not. Otherwise you might be unhappy even if you do love the car.

In addition to supply and demand influencing prices, don't forget that a purchase involves "offer and acceptance."

When the dealer offers a car for XX dollars, most people who are real buyers, will make a counter offer.

If you want the car, let them know you are willing and able to buy, make them an offer and maybe you will be an owner.

Most folks are predicting this chip shortage is going to last quite a while... Used car prices are getting huge premiums with some lightly used cars going for more than new cars...

I bought my GLE 43 AMG at the start of the pandemic and offered a way low price...Its worth about $10K (trade in) more now than almost 2 years ago. Like most money issues, Timing is everything...

I'd wait it out.

I ordered a 22 AMG GLE Coupe, that will arrive the end of February. The Dealership told me they would NOT mark up past MSRP. I plan to hold them to that, as they are a very reputable dealership in Northern calif (Walnut Creek) ca. So we will see when I go in for the final battle. Nevertheless I plan to not pay a penny over MSRP, I'll update the forum after the Coupe arrives.

Anyone know a dealer in the NYC area that will stick to MSRP? Everywhere I’m going they’re saying 10-20k over MSRP

I ordered and paid MSRP for my GLE 53 at Mercedes Benz of Bonita Springs. They are in Florida on the West Coast I have been buying my Benz's from them for many years. Great people and honest pricing.

If you are looking to order a GLE and don't mind the drive to central NY or to Central PA I know of two Dealers who are at MSRP and not penny more. I have a GLE53 on order at MSRP.

No I purchased my 53 in northern cal. The dealership did honor MSRP, however he did complain that management was mad because he did not Mark up the vehicle. Looks nice rides nice, I just have to now learn all the bells and whistles.

In the market for a GLE 53 SUV and would appreciate if any members have recent experiences of purchasing at MSRP for referrals. I’m located in Southern California but would love any rec's for dealers in the west coast. Happy to state you're my referral and of course would send you a nice bottle of wine or something as a thank you!

EDIT: Just such a weird market, and quite frankly don't want to deal with these sales professionals calling out insane mark ups to see if anyone bites. Would love to deal with someone straightforward and honest. Had a conversation today that started off at "we won't take anything under MSRP + $30K for the GLE53 AMG SUV" to "why don't we try to do MSRP + $7.5K". No thank you.

I don't remember if I made a post about this but a close friend of mine wanted G63 last fall. They wanted $50K over the list to order one. He said no and the bad thing is he ordered a lot of cars from Mercedes. He was so angry he ordered an Aston Martin SUV and two Ferrari's. I don't think he will ever buy a Mercedes again. BTW, he traded his Lambo in on one of the Ferraris and got what he paid for it. He is still waiting on one of the Ferraris.

Wow what a blow to his ego. Did he think he would bring Stuttgart to it's knees? Did his diabolical dealer close it's doors? What does he do at the pump?
BTW I just got a written offer from Carfax for @9,000 over sticker for my one-year-old 53.
And my ten-year-old travel trailer's book value is above it's purchase price.

Crazy market. Might get worse.

Every non sale hurts. He's not the only customer MB and MB dealerships are losing. So yes, Stuttgart is losing - one customer at a time.

That right there explains the current car market. He didn't sell privately, he traded it to a dealer and received what he paid for the car new as trade value.

Probably left some serious money on the table. But he "proved" some kind of point! Likely not the one intended, though.
