After placing an order for my GLE, I've been doing a lot more research on the little things like random accessories that people like to add.
I came across something I didn't even think of, screen protectors lol..

I have a screen protector on my phone but it frequently gets tossed into my pocket or bags with other items, or even dropped. Much more abuse than my car's screen would be subject to.

But still, now I'm worried about scratches on the screen. It seems to be glass, but does anyone know if its a particularly scratch resistant type like Gorilla glass?
Does it have an AR coating that is easily scratched?

And in general, how have your experiences been with or without screen protectors? I've kept my current car for 7 years now and plan on keeping the GLE for a long time too.
Some of these screen protectors look like they add a ton of glare though

Like everything else in life… It depends

Do you have pets or small kids that may claw or poke at it with sharp toys? If the answer is no, then you’ll be fine for a lifetime of scratch-free use (totally different use case of a phone that could slip out of your hand and get damaged when it hits the ground, or scratch in your pocket if it rubs agains keys, etc).

I’ve had many vehicles of all makes and models with softer screens than Mercedes, and I’ve never had an issue with scratches.

Cheers,

No kids, but I do have two dogs and they tend to climb over to the front area when I leave them in the car (just to load the trunk or something, not for an extended period of time).

I guess I'm largely concerned because of how big the screen is compared to my current BRZ. My BRZ has an older style resistive touch screen so the surface is matte and soft-ish. Glossy + hard makes me think the GLE screen will pick up small micro scratches from everyday use.

Get this is your worried. I have it on both of mine and it’s nice. Super clear and cannot tell its even there except for the two pieces which honestly isn’t very noticeable (frankly I’ve forgotten about it but thought it was worth mentioning it). Much easier install than the one piece designs and easily worth the $40.

Thanks, I was actually looking at that exact one yesterday. It was on sale with a slight discount for prime day but I figured I'm still months away from getting my GLE so I didnt want to jump the gun lol.

So it doesnt add an extra glare? I think thats my biggest concern.

I'm so OCD I don't like using the touchscreen because of prints unless I have to which is very rare. Then I wipe it off as soon as I can. I have grown accustomed to the steering wheel controls and the touch pad.

I even have a touch pad protector. Lol. Works seemlessly.
