Pirelli P zero vs Michelin pilot sport 4 suv

Hi all,

changing the tires on our GLE 63. 21 in rims. Don’t like the oem continental tires it came with. I had the p zeros in other suvs and really liked it. It has noice canceling as well.

What’s the recommendation between these Michelins and the p zero?

to add I’m in Florida. So summer tires

I'm in Florida as well and have the Michelin PS4s on 22-in rims on my GLE 53 - absolutely love them. They are very grippy and smooth riding - pretty quiet too. I only have a little over 12,000 on them and I'm guessing I can get up to about 25,000 before they need replacement- the outer edges on the fronts are certainly wearing faster due to the heavy weight of the car, but so far so good and excellent in the rain as well. I've never owned the pirelli's so I'm sorry I can't comment on those but I'm sure others will.

thanks for the input. I loved them just wasn’t sure which is better. It says for the 21 in rims only the sport is available. Not the S model. Not sure if that’s different. I had the s a long time ago on my S63 and remember them being loud.

I can't comment on either Tire.
But I am becoming convinced that the MO-1 designation (co-developed with AMG) makes a difference.
I haven't had a good Tire experience with Continentals or Pirellis for several years, but with 21-in OE Conti all seasons and Pirelli winters, I'll say that these are the best tires of both of those brands that I've ever had.
I have even tracked the Contis.

I attribute it to either the MO-1 designation, or all of a sudden both of those brands have gotten immensely better.
So, if there's a choice I'll vote for the MO-1.

on tire rack the Pirelli says MO-S Mercedes. Not exactly sure what that meant

i found the meanings of each. It’s just interesting that the Pirelli score higher in handling compared to the MO-1 Michelins. Neither tire scored amazing

MO-S is "Silent" tech. It's a sound absorbing belt.

I'd be interested in that. I haven't heard anything negative, such as It's affecting performance.

On the Tire Rack ratings for the MO-1 tires, did you select for Mercedes SUVs? I don't think they would be any advantage for an AMG tire on a Q7, for instance.

I did. They both seem like very good tires for the GLE. Very similar ratings. Seemed like the Pirelli may have edged it out just a tad higher in the handling. Michelin got it in treadwear. I personally don’t care about the life of the tire vs handling , comfort and quiteness.

seems like the Pirelli will be quieter. The Michelins are pilot sport 4 tires. Not the 4S. THe 4S are amazing.

Yes, the 4s are amazing for this heavy sport suv. I'll replace with same when the time comes. These are also MO1.

My service advisor said that the MO besides being for Mercedes Original tires, has thicker sidewalls and are specifically designed for our cars/SUVs (in our case, GLE). When you get tires from the dealer they will always be MO, but you need to check when you buy from Costco, Sam’s Club and other stores you need to look at the tires to be sure they say MO. Photo shows how it looks on my original GLE Yokohama tires.
