Hard wire radar detector or dashcam
Hard wire radar detector or dashcam
Can anyone point me to any DIY to
1. Hardwire a radar detector. Fuse turns on and off with the ignition.
2. Hardwire a dash cam. Fuse that is constant on.
2024 GLE. I’m guessing prior years are the same the the model doesn’t differ either.
Thanks in advance!

On my 2019 GLE53 I powered my Valentine 1 and remote display using the 12v cigarette lighter at the front of the center console. It powers on and off with the ignition.
IIRC, there is a good thread here on MB world with pics of how to do what the OP asks. The wires are all run to the back of the car where the fuseboxes are. Search - it's here but maybe in the GLS forum or such. I can't recall now. Check youtube too.
Did the same in my 2022 GLE53, but I used a 12v cig plug splitter to make 2 connections, one for the Viofo dashcam and one for the V1G2. The V1 wire heads to the left side of the car and the dashcam wire to the right. Super easy and quick to do. Really cannot see much of any wires except the cig adapter splitters which are pushed down into the area where the wireless phone charge pad (mine did not get this option due to CV19 parts issues) goes. Only drawback is you cannot close the door over the cupholder area. Doesn't matter to me but some may object. I would never put my phone into that out of the way charging area as I run the JBV1 app all the time and I cannot see the screen nor interact with it if the phone was down in that tray area. Useless for me. I also did not have to take a lot of interior trim apart to run wires all over the car. I may only have this car another year or two, then switch out to something else. Makes taking all this back out of the car that much easier. For me, that is.

There's a dashcam thread on v167 sub forum with some photos and advice that would help you.
