Dashcam options
Any suggestions for a dashcam (front/rear) with ios app for the new 2020 gle 350?
is a shame that with this great front and reverse camera already in the car, MB didnt think of adding recording capabilities while driving or when parked, maybe when the car gets a refresher it will be an option.
I got me a X Motion L30 dashcam but there is not wi-fi option and theres no ios or android app for it. So i might be changing it if something better comes up, Link below, had it installed for $400 at a shop by my house,

@ned do you have it or have experience with it? For example theres no rear camera but an inside camera along with front, and all in one package

Just read something interesting on the manual someone posted for the 2020 GLE on page 399
Does it mean we can use the on board camera as Dashcam?

I don't want to hardwire the dashcam again. It takes me a good while to get all the wires routed correctly for a dual camera setup, and a built in setup would be nice.

New dsahcam from BMW
Here's a new one from BMW that looks interesting. Has a separate camera to mount at rear window.

The sample footage from that BMW video is terrible!
BlackVue DR900s-2CH is the best on the market if you don't mind spending more money.
You can get some good "Bang for the Buck" ones off Amazon for around $100, but it's hard to read the plate details off those ones. I have one now and wished I just got the DR900S-2CH instead.

Thanks for the info. Please do keep us updated. I hope if it is deactivated, it also means it is possible for them to activate it over the air or through a software update.

Using a Goluk T2 in my current vehicle and I am very happy with it.
For the MB, looking at the BlackVue DR900s-2CH as it is the best unit on the market atm.

This is 4k with wifi. I just had it installed on my E400. My installer said he's heard people complain about the wifi connection not being stable, but I've not had any issues yet. They also offer you cloud storage and you can access the content from any internet connection. 4k really makes reading license plates and other important information easier, provided it's in the field of view...

You don't need in-car wifi. The dash cam has its own built-in wifi that once connected, you can access the video files through the app and view and/or download directly from there. Eliminates need to have to remove the card and view them on a computer system. This requires you to be connected to it though, so basically, sitting in your car.
Alternatively, you also have the ability to access & download the video files remotely from anywhere in the world via cloud but it requires the dash cam to have some sort of wifi connectivity. If your car has built-in WIFI, then you're set, as the dash cam will be connected to it and you'll be able to view live feed or recorded videos or "events" triggered anywhere anytime.
The old fashion way would be to just remove the microSD card and just view them on your computer.

The GLE does have built-in WiFi but doesn’t the WiFi shut off when the car is turned off? How would you be to remotely view anything without WiFi power?
