W166 GLE63s fully turning off traction control

What does everyone do to fully turn off tc for dig runs? If you press the button it just seems to still help some. Do people use that dyno setting in the center screen to get it full off? Tried to do some dragy stuff this am and as soon as the tires broke loose it cut power and you could tell it never fully kicked it back in.
stage 1 tune. No tcu just for info.

Pfa of the pain in the *** in question.

I've been trying to figure this out too. Other cars I've held the button from 3-7s and that doesn't seem to work in this car. I have yet to try and do dyno mode.

Just pressing the ESP button puts ESP in SPORT mode, where it relaxes and allows more freedom, but is not fully off. To turn it fully off you have to press and hold the button until ESP OFF shows in the instrument cluster. According to the owner's manual, that should work even in the GLE. Consult your AMG owner's manual starting on page 12 for an explanation of the ESP functions. Now having said that, newer AMGs have a new chassis dynamics system called AMG DYNAMICS. It has four modes, Basic, Advanced, Pro and Master. It's an extension of ESP. For the most dynamic and least intervention, you have to be in RACE mode and then turn off ESP. This puts AMG DYNAMICS in Master. Should also work with ESP SPORT, but then it still intervenes to some degree. The Master mode has the best dynamics. With the GLE there also appears to be a difference depending on whether you have the Off-road package or not.

Dyno mode is not for the street. It turns off ABS as well. Furthermore, as far as I know ESP is never fully off in the SUV models. These are not sports cars and they carry a rollover risk, so ESP is still lurking in the background to keep the car upright. If you want proper driving dynamics, get a proper car. Lastly, in AMGs ESP will reactivate under hard braking, even if it's fully off. This is in case you lose control, you can still potentially save the car by slamming on the brakes. Another reason why you don't wanna use Dyno mode.

Holding the button does not work. It must just only go partially off I guess. Owners manual clipping above looks to be for the newer GLE63. I have a w166 2017. If you press and hold the button it just turns it back on.

Yes, the above is for the 2022 model year. You didn't specify what year you have. You should always list your actual model, so people know what you have, because answers may differ depending on the model year. You are correct, the 2017 doesn't have the 3-stage ESP.

Yeah, sorry I glanced over that since this forum is for both the W166 and W167.

Thats why I added it in the title, because these 2 models really should be separate.
