Weird spark plug boots

Just did the spark plug change over the weekend on my GLE63S and noticed that all of the spark plug boots for the back 3 cylinders on each side were the same. However, the front 2 cylinders (the front one on each bank) had a spark plug boot with a pink ceramic wrap around the center of the plug boot. The other 6 boots were just black rubber. But the front cylinders were the standard black rubber with the pink ceramic boot around the center. I had ordered a new set of boots from FCP Euro and all 8 were the same black rubber boots so just thought I would post this in case anyone else had seen this or knew the reason. I will try to post an image of the difference.

Its a high temp shield to help protect from heat of the turbo chargers. It is only on the front two cylinders. Right above where the turbochargers are, Typically those are the first two to fail from heat.

That makes sense. I wonder why the replacement boots do not include these? These are not too hard to change so maybe that is why the replacements don't include the shield? I believe these were the original plug boots so maybe that is why they had the shields.

Be sure you purchase the right part numbers. The coils with insulation are a different part number than the ones with no insulation. All work with the ignition system, but missing insulation where it is needed means shorter life for that coil.

Before seeing these when I removed them, I ordered the full replacement kit from FCP Euro. They came with 8 identical plug boots. I did follow up with FCP Euro and they have never heard of the ceramic boots on the first 2 cylinders. The tech was completely clueless and could care less....that is some good customer service.

FCP doesn't want to admit their "kit" is wrong. It includes 8 non-insulated boots, when it should have 2 boots with insulation, and 6 with no insulation. They are selling incorrect fitment.

Decided to just remove the original insulated boot section and install on the new plug boots. Was simple enough. Would be nice if FCP Euro included this or at least told you to remove the old ones.
