Brake Pad Replacement

Didn't see any threads relating to brake pad replacement. I need rear brakes and just wondering if everyone is going with OEM pads or if there is a comparable or better alternative. Also, is everyone replacing rotors at the same time as pads...I dont have a pulsation and it's rears so I'm thinking I can just do pads. I'm not paying anything for labor so in the event I get noise I can always throw rotors on later if need be.

Powerstop from rockauto is great all the S63 guys are running them right now, I have them on all 3 cars. Customer service is solid, no dust, noise, comes with sensors and replacement hardware in addition to enough grease for the job.

They're carbon ceramic with a rubberized metal shim for vibration dampening. The material doesn't flake or smush, pedal feel is firm and tight and the pads with any rotor you end up using last forever

Rear pad replacement is a piece of cake. You'll need a jack, lug wrench, 13 mm socket wrench and a skinny 13mm combination wrench, and a pair of needle nose pliers. All said and done, it should take about 15 mins a side. You can reuse rotors down to a touch less than 25mm thickness. I would always measure to be sure with calipers. You'll go into the settings like you would to reset the oil change service indicator and set up the rear pad replacement screen and go to fitting to release the rear brake calipers, when you are done take them out of fitting mode and you are good to go. There is only one sensor on the rear brakes on the passenger side.

Is it the Z23 Evolution Carbon Fiber Ceremic under the "Premium" section? There quite a few different powerstops. Looks like the GLE doesn't come with sensor, which is no big deal because it's $3.

Don't forget to lubricate those rear pins really well. They have a tendency to stick and when they do they wear down your inner pads quickly.

Do you think Paste is a good idea for the pucks, or do those plastic (?) shims work better?

correct

I recommend those or the Brembo NAO Ceramic pads. I don't notice a difference between the two or other ceramic offerings honestly. I just have like a decade of personal experience going with PS when I didn't have money, to using them when I did have money and I ended up getting lucky all along.

I’ve used power stop on my Raptor. They work just fine. My experience with Rock Auto was terrible though. Customer service was non-responsive at best. Just my experience. Will never use them again.

It's a new"ish" ceramic compound by Brembo that retains the same stopping power and longevity as the typical ceramic compound but produces even less dust.

FYI. There aren't 3 types of Brembo aftermarket Pads. The Brembo Ceramic pads I linked above are the same as NAO pads. "Brembo Aftermarket Range" consists of only 2 types of pads:

Low-Met Brake Brake Pads

NAO Ceramic Brake Pads

its just a name for their non-organic ceramic pads. They ironically had a ceramic street aftermarket pad that still made dust from the organic carbon binder in it, it's now a clean formula thats all epoxy/ceramic to my knowledge and experience

do the '22's have new brake systems over the '21 or previous generation cars? if you can cross reference their part numbers it might actually just be too new to be input into most parts catalog systems
