I had @rjautomotive code mine to "remember last setting", so since March 2022 I shut it off and have never turned it back on again and never have to push a button. Easy.

Nope - and in fact, I love the feature. Asides from the gas savings, here in SW Florida, we have notoriously long traffic signals (I'm talking like 4+ minutes).
What's even sweeter is the auto brake hold feature. No more keeping your foot on the brake👍🏻

I plan to keep the vehicle for a while so my concern is the wear and tear of repeated starts. I don't believe the oil pump is running when it auto stops is it?

There's no more wear on the starter mechanism than just driving around town, because it's what also provides the initial boost - before the electric supercharger and then the turbo kick in, giving immediate throttle response without turbo lag.
It's an ISG - Inline Starter Generator - not a separate starter motor.

Oil circulation (and water, I believe) to the turbo continues while the engine is shut down. Water is circulated with a separate 48 volt water pump, same with the air conditioning compressor.

That’s interesting. But the oil pump wouldn’t be pumping oil through the engine if the engine is off. The oil would be settling. Then when cranked back up, the internals that require lubricant would be operating without it until the oil pump circulates the oil. This is what I was always taught was the worst thing for an engine. Even if only for a second on start up normally, but now amplified exponentially.
Any modern oil should maintain film strength for at least a few minutes. Multi-vis and all those fancy additives....
And part of that is a old wives tale based on primitive oils from the 30s.
IMO oiling is not an issue for start-stop.

Just want to add: Auto start/stop has been around for so long now. It's very reliable even with the wear and tear on certain components because manufacturers have beefed those parts up to take the extra # of cycles.

As reported by my Service Manager after he returned from training. Many years ago, though.
