Brake job cost at a MB dealer

My wife is getting ready to trade her 21 AMG GLE 63S SUV in for a 24. It is loaded with every option except running boards and ceramic brakes and has 30k on the odometer. Great condition. They only offered 80k on her trade-in and said it's because they'd have to do an $8000-10,000 brake job in order to CPO it. Is that brake job cost normal for non-ceramic brakes being done at a MB dealership?? Seems crazy to me but I'm new to Mercedes.

6-8K more so for a full steel brake job.
Dealership cost would be 3-4K at most.
I’d take no less than 85K for the trade in.

Geez... It took me about 15 mins per side on my last set or rear pads. If I had to do the rotors too It would maybe take me another 15 mins per side. Pads were $250 and I think If I hand to do rear rotors I think another $400. Talk about getting shafted at the dealer. Brake jobs if just pads, rotors and sensors is easily done in a driveway in about 2 hours for an entire car with a floor jack. Imagine if it's on a lift it's twice as fast.

ask for written estimate then shop it around.

and brakes should not cost that much as you can get pads and rotors cheap online.

Now if they are the CARBON fiber rotor option - yeah crazy expensive but last way longer the normal...

Cost me $400 out the door for my rotors and pads on my 63. I did the work in my driveway but used aftermarket rotors and pads. Their brake rotors must be made of unobtainium. You probably want to go with everything MB just to be sure so it will be more expensive but not anywhere close to $8k to $10k.

Just look what's being marketed on the used car sites.

You're right I jumped ahead myself. 😅

OP, unless your dealer assumed you had CCB, then that $8-10k figure is absurd. I posted the Manheim MMR so you know where the dealer needs to be, roughly, on purchase and sale strike #s to make a profit on your MY21 after having to absorb the overhead "brake cost." The Manheim MMR numbers aren't perfect but it is a good starting place to get comparables if your end goal is getting more than $80k for the trade. Better comparable numbers would be similar mileage vehicles listed currently on the used car sites, minus around $2500 markup plus their "overhead" like this brake job and CPO inspection. Regardless of this stated "$8-10k" brake job figure, is that $80k trade in offer close to what market is dictating. On my preliminary research, I'd want to shoot for at least $85k if I had the same vehicle.

I have a 2016 GLE 63 S and the dealership here in Fort Lauderdale just quoted me $3,604.35 for rotors and pads all the way around.
