GLE53 21" tires/winter options
I ordered 21" wheels, and for whatever reason, could only get with performance tires. The good thing is, there are more options for tires vs. 22".
As I have the luxury of not having to head out in bad conditions, I was leaning towards all season. That brings me to the Pirelli Scorpion Zero A/S or the Michelin Primacy Tour A/S. I see lots of info on the Pirelli's, but does anyone have experience with the Michelin's?
If I went with winter tires, it would be the Pirelli Scorpion Winter. Then I'd just do the swap out Spring/Fall. I don't put on a lot of miles (sub 7k), so I was wondering if it was worth it.
Thanks
I have these on my car and whilst I haven't driven in winter conditions yet, they ride and handle darn good.

I also have the option of staying put if the weather is bad so that was a big part of my decision to go with A/S tires vs doing the seasonal switcheroo.

Obligatory plug for TyreReviews on YT who does a damn good job reviewing as many of the million options out there in practically all the categories.

Below are tire rack brake tests in one table that should give you an idea. I had the Primacy, but I don't remember the performance in snow as it is in the middle. Cross Climate with 3 peak mountain and snowflake (3PMSF) symbol is closer to winter tire Alpin 5 in snow performance, but then you loose on the dry/wet performance compared to Primacy or UHP tires...

Which means that none of their tire reviews have included one of the leading winter and all weather Tire manufacturers.

I did end up buying the Pirelli Scorpion A/S for my GLE53. The ride and handling has been very good the past two months. I have 2K miles on them. I have not noticed any added road noise.
Yesterday, we had a winter storm (our third of the season I believe) and got about 5" of the white stuff. I had an appointment that I had to go to, towards the end of the storm, long after the roads *should* have been reasonably dealt with. For whatever reason, little plowing or sanding, etc,. had been done anywhere I went. (schools had been cancelled for the day).
Anyhow, I am just here to say how impressed I was with how the vehicle performed with these tires. I drove about 50 miles round trip on varying road types (no highway). Most were not down to pavement. Any place that did was just tire ruts, but most were snow covered. I live at about 800' and came down to the "city", lol, on twisty back roads. An occasion slip around a turn, esp if I pushed it. But it felt pretty solid. I tried stock "I" mode and "Snow" mode (best). Used engine breaking down hill(s) where needed. A lot of the ride was seeing how it handled :-)
I would have been white-knuckled in my old CR-V.
I imagine it would have been amazing with full winter tires.
I wanted an every day driver for all of the weather conditions I live in, and I can say I have it. These tires have done the trick.
