2024 AMG GLE 53
Dealer Maintenance Service and Warranty GLE AMG

My 2024 GLE 53 is coming up on its 1 year anniversary and will be due for a oil change soon. The service A is Mercedes recommended.

Question is to keep my factory warranty.
Do I need to have the MB dealer perform the services and to have it in writing that all maintenence was done by MB? Or can I do the service myself and not have any issues of potential warranty void due to no MB service records?

I know here is also the option of going to a none MB delear and have the service. But that's also not a MB dealer.

Wondering on what the "rules are"? Thanks.

It is illegal for the dealer to require they service your vehicle to retain the factory warranty, see Magnuson-Moss Warranty act.

You can do the maintenance yourself. Just keep your receipts and use OEM Parts and the proper recommended fluids.

It's best to check directly with the service manager to make sure that your documentation will fit his needs and requirements.

Other than that, yes the Magnuson Moss warranty act protects your warranty.

You have a high performance AMG why not just do basic required service generally just an oil change which generally runs around $200-$250 at the Mercedes Dealership. They will also hook it up to diagnostic computer and make sure everything is running to specs. They will top off all the fluids too and use correct stuff. Don’t opt for the extras like changing windshield wipers or air filters you can easily do that yourself. If you go to outside shops unless you know the guy personally you’ll have to worry about having an issue unlike Mercedes who will warranty their service work. I doubt Mercedes will warranty improperly performed work not done by their service techs. Just save the receipts for the stuff you changed yourself eg. windshield wipers and air filters. Safe thing is to have Mercedes do all the work though depending on your level of expertise.

They're both high performance cars, if equipped with the same suspension goodies.
No matter, they both need oil.

Although the AMG 63 is an 8 cylinder the AMG 53 is 6 cylinder and both are considered high performance at least when compared to the stock 450 or 350 and many other non Mercedes vehicles. The engine is a higher tuned version of the 450 engine and is definitely a fast truck but just not as fast as the AMG 63.

"High Performance" doesn't mean anything when it comes to doing an engine oil change. At the end of the day, it is still just an Oil Drain Plug, Filter and Engine oil. If someone cannot perform that simple task then they should NEVER work on their own vehicle.

While I 100% agree that both A and B services at the dealership are a complete ripoff ($570 for A-Service in my area), I rather have them do it while vehicle is still under warranty and not risk a future situation where they may deny warranty even if the consumer is protected under any "act". The hassle, waste of time and irritation of a back-and-forth with the dealership and/or MB are just not worth it. When I purchased the vehicle, I did so knowing that I would have to pay Mercedes-Benz for 4 services while in Warranty.

What I do to lessen the blow, is ask my SA for a discount. Latest one I received was 25% off so ended up paying $388 for an A-Service.

As they say, if it makes you feel better, then it is worth it. To me, still an absolute money grab for that service.

That's about industry standard for an A service, which includes oil and filter.
It looks like they just raised the price the amount of the discount.
Looks shady.

Most dealers will do an "A service lite," which is just an oil change if that's all you want.

Not my first rodeo.
Happy to report there's nothing shady there. That is the standard rate at this particular dealership for an AMG with 6 cyl. and the lowest in South Florida. Still a rip off? YES.

I recommend calling all nearby dealers and asking for their prices, both A and B. Then ask your preferred dealer and SA to price match. The dealer I go to charges the most out of the 4 but I end up paying the lowest amount. Also, their service pages sometimes have discounts that even the SAs aren't aware of.
