63s has standard ARC, which improves ride quality.

Also, (and I have never figured out why this is) most dealers have over-inflated tires after PDI.

When comparing cars, I always take a tire gauge with me, because odds are good that the pressure is wrong.

ARC on my 2022 53 is fantastic. Ride is super nice even on 22's. I was able to order with the upgraded red brakes, so stopping the heavy SUV is a breeze. Funny that in '22 I could not order a V8 (GLE 63), but I could get a 53 ordered with ARC and with the big brakes. Now I read that ARC is not available on 53's nor the upgraded brakes. Crazy supply or MB mfg issues/cost cutting - not sure which. But if I was ordering today, it would be a 63 to get ARC and the better brakes. If you are not into somewhat spirited driving with this car, those 2 things may not factor much into your decision. I like to get into the curves and this thing really handles !

When I took delivery, the PDI team had the 22's at 50 psi all around. That's right. 50. I couldn't get home fast enough to drop pressures! Crazy. Rode like a washboard with that much pressure.

I've had 3 GLE450's since 2020. Would the 53 ride be worse then the base model?

May want to ask @taphil for his dealer’s info seeing how he scored $$ off MSRP for his 63s. Or…or, he just may post said dealer for all to get in on this. Lol

Guys, Mercedes just reported a 30% profit decline for q1.

https://www.reuters.com/business/aut...op-2024-04-30/

I imagine corporate and dealers will be coming up with more discounts over the year…don’t settle for MSRP…it’s no secret dealers typically make 7% off MSRP between invoice and kickbacks. Now they should be getting more desperate…even if they pretend this last quarter is a blip.

Can you use more than 1 discount? Like $3k from Sam's Club and $3k from Amex?
If yes, please let me know how.
I called the Auto Buying Program and they said I can't use more then 1 discount.

@majesterludi Have you pulled the trigger yet on a GLE63S? Based on your use case (kids, wife, etc), sounds like the vehicle you'll be purchasing will be a family DD? To the extent that is the case, I'd respectfully suggest you think a little harder about your choice.

I need to replace my wife's '19 X5 DD, and she is not a driving enthusiast. Based on my years of experience driving a W212 E63, full-up AMGs don't make the best daily drivers. They're not engineered to sit in traffic, ping pong from one stop light to the next, and generally run around town. Even in Comfort drive mode, it takes effort to drive and lacks the manners one -- or at least my wife -- would prefer in a DD.

You and I may be in the same boat, considering the same range of vehicles. Net of evaluating all the usual suspects including the SQ7 and the Range Rover Sport, I narrowed the search down to the GLE450 and GLE580. It was then suggested to me that I look closer at the GLE53, as a way to get more power and style over the GLE450, without the downside of the GLE580's hydration needs, the wonders of its V8 notwithstanding. And so I did, and at least in my particular case, the almost-AMG GLE53 slots in nicely.

I'm currently working on a MY25 GLE53 build, with ARC.

@jaxslk Would be grateful if you could elaborate on your opinion that your 53's ride is super with ARC, even on 22s. I am working on a MY25 GLE53 build that currently includes 22" AMG Multispoke Wheels (RPG). I'm replacing my family's MY19 X5 DD and need a vehicle that is easier to drive than my E63 and that has much milder road manners, but also one that when called upon by me, has what I'd like as an enthusiast. Thanks!

I took @mikapen 's advice a few years back when I ordered and got ARC - glad I did. Ride on the car is really nice in C mode with the 22's and summer tires (I run about 36/37 psi in front and 33/34 rear). No issues and passengers have commented how nice it rides. The tires are more quiet than one would think. I get more wind noise from the Thule roof bars than the tires. No snow here but got 30k out of the OEM tires before replacement. When you want to get into it, just twist the knob to S+ and the Dynamics kicks in and the handling really gets tight. This car is heavy but a blast to drive and the 6 cyl likes to be pushed. I have only nice things to say about it at 37k miles. Love it as my DD and use the massaging seats a lot. Really glad to have the upgraded red brakes too - for me this is a bigger safety item on this car than the active lane keeping stuff (which I keep shut off - the next owner can use it if they want, but maybe it checks the boxes on some insurance carriers' discount checklists). Highway cruising in C mode at 70-80 mph is a breeze and handling is real good. I can recall one emergency lane change action I had to take a while back and the car gave me total confidence to avoid the distracted driver. Not sure if evasive steering input makes ARC handle any different (roll stabilization?) or kick in somehow in the background, but the car did not dive or wallow at all and was in C mode at the time. 21mpg to 22mpg is about what I get on trips - it would be better if I kept it to 65mph. 19.4 lifetime mpg. The V8 would be mid teens most likely. Ride height automatically goes to the low setting at high speeds. I twist it to S or S+ when hitting off ramps or tight curves and the 22's grip like mad while the car stays very level. If it is raining out I drive much much slower of course, even with the great wet handling of the PS4's. My rule is no stunt driving in the rain. Been there, done that as a young man.... The car rides very well even in very strong rainstorms. Never felt like it loses traction or control. The soft compound on the 22" PS4's can be a detriment if you live in an area with a lot of construction going on - I have to check for nails and screws that might be embedded every couple weeks. Discount Tire loves me. With all the ARC and extras I made sure to get the EW to take me out to 7y/100k - the ARC and other suspension goodies can't be cheap to fix if they break. For DD use C mode and you should be very happy. And when the fun time comes, you'll have all you need except that V8 torque monster. I can really fling this car into turns and it never disappoints. I spent about a year driving it around town in S+ at the lower ride height, but honestly it just is rougher on you and the car if you are not pushing it and driving hard. Just use C mode as the engineers defaulted to for most situations. If you want to drive this on a track with ARC, @mikapen has some nice threads here that talk about his experience (all good). https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...does-work.html

@jaxslk Thanks so much for taking the time to write up the details of your experiences. Very helpful recon ahead of planned test drives. Going into those believing that the GLE 53 with ARC will be the call. If there's local inventory around to do an A/B test, will exercise both 22s and 21s (properly inflated). I really like the (RPG) 22" multispoke; wish there was a 21" multispoke option as there is (RWA) on the GLE 450 and GLE 580.

Agree that @mikapen offers terrific content.

Thank you both.

It would help if you elaborate, but I do agree that it's under-powered compared to the 580 for about the same price.

Pretty certain the engine and drivetrain are unchanged from MY24 to MY25. Horsepower remains 429 hp; I've not come across how that's split between the ICE and ISG.

The V6 is gone. It's now an inline six; I6.

The GLE 53 Hybrid is already on sale in Germany. The price is quite a bit more over the regular GLE 53. I wished they would increase the base GLE 53 horsepower to 449hp. In Germany, the regular GLE 53 has 435hp but in the US it says 429hp. For the steep price hike of the hybrid, it may be advantageous just to get the 63 unless your needs suit better with a hybrid.
