Differential and transfer case service?

My 2018 GLE43 is at 63k and I’m about to get an oil change and take care of the differential services. An independent shop told me the transfer case is lubricated with the 4matic transmission system and service is not required.

Is this true? Dealer doesn’t seem to know much either…

Not true, transfer case oil is separate, it's a good time to replace this at your mileage and an easy process.

I thought the same as OP as well since that is what my service advisor at an MB dealership told me as well back then, don't know how much truth there is.

OK I could be mistaken, the w166 transfer case oil is separate for my ML63, and googling the transfer case part number for the GLE43 I can see a drain plug.. so apologies if I am wrong. Thoughts @chassis ?

My service advisor could be wrong though, by the way GLC 43 seems to be not sharing fluid between transmission and transfer case apparently https://mbworld.org/forums/glc63s-gl...ification.html
