2019 GLE63 - How to check transmission fluid level and oil level?

I just got a 2019 GLE63 and got an 'add oil' light. Fair enough... added a quart. I take it the purple dip stick on the top back right of the engine is oil dip stick. I feel bad even asking this... It was dry, which alarmed me a bit at first.
I came here to search and some people call this dip stick 'pink' (I am calling mine 'purple') and that I should run the engine to normal operating temps and then let it sit a few min and check it. When I checked it and it was dry and the engine was cold and not started.
Will warm it up and check it again..

How do I check the transmission fluid level? Is there a hidden dip stick or a way to check deep down in the dashboard / computer / settings somewhere?

Don't worry about it being dry the first pull, it is due to the air tight seal.

There is no way to check the transmission fluid level via the dipstick in this car as far as I am concerned.

Thanks W205, is there 'any' way to check it? Surely there must be. Where or how would you 'add' transmission fluid? How would you know if you are too low or too high?

Thanks

Really sorry to tell you about the bad news but the only way to check it is to drain the fluid and measure it, not ideal. Some MB transmissions have the dipstick, some doesn't have a dipstick and has an electronic measurement but only accessible with MB's XENTRY diagnostics but sadly the transmission in the GLE 63 is not one of those.

The symptoms of low fluid can be rough shifts or slipping or hesitation basically any weird/odd transmission behaviour..

Not sure... its a 2019 GLE 63s and I got it in January of 2024. When the 'add oil' indicator popped up, I became curious about the transmission fluid.

So am I understanding correctly from w205s post that you have to take it to the dealer for the special MB diagnostic computer to learn the transmission fluid level?

Thanks for the help and expertise.

Sadly, this transmission does not have a physical dipstick or a fluid level sensor so the only way to measure the fluid is to drain it and measure it that way, I wouldn't put that same fluid back in the transmission though.

I recommend taking this opportunity to do an ATF change, it is usually due 50,000-60,000 miles depending on the MB transmission, I would recommend it be done at 50,000 on an AMG GLE 63 S. As for the year interval, if I recalled correctly, it is recommended to have it changed every 5 years or 6 years.

The benefit of the ATF change will make sure that the fluid (if the previous owner never changed) will be changed and you can take the opportunity to assess the wear, hopefully no shavings and the colour of the fluid, etc.

Follow up - working to change the oil - 2019 GLE63s

Following up on this as I must be missing something.... how do I check the engine oil level on a 2019 GLE 63s? I must be missing something on the Steering Wheel/Speedometer/Dash menu system. I have also tried using the central upper mid console screen and wheel/mouse thing. No luck.

Doe the engine have to be running (thinking no)? Does the engine have to be 'warm'?

I have searched the menu systems this morning - GLE was in 'positon 1'. Engine cold. Not started or running.

Help - surely this is easy and I am missing something. I am stuck.

Is there a way to disable the 'auto leveling' feature. When I put the front end on ramps, the car lowers the front and raises the back... making it slightly difficult to move around underneath while trying to change the oil. Thinking this might be good for an inch or two of room..

Why did they remove the ability to suck it out from the top?

It's the EPA concerned about overall emissions in addition to tailpipe emissions.

Regarding your self-leveling - leaving the driver's door slightly open should keep that from happening.
