Jack stand location

Good morning. I see where the OM states where to put the jack but does anyone have recommendations on where to place jack stands? I want to leave the car up for longer than I feel comfortable with it on a jack.

Thanks!

I don't trust even jackstands. I use RhinoRamps anytime I'm underneath. Takes only seconds to drive onto them, and with the parking brake and wheel chocks set, the car is reliably and safely lifted.

Agree. And I use those to change the oil. Want to do some break work and rotate the tires.

Not sure about the V167, but M-B usually provides a pad to be used for the front lift location. The diff serves as the rear lift location. Once lifted the jack stands can be placed at the jack points along the rocker panels. The attached photos show the front lift location on our W166. See if you have something similar.

They go on the sides at the jack points, there are two on either side of the car. It is NOT safe for a single jack stand in the center front or rear. Always use two, one on either side of the car. You can leave it that way for years.

There’s just not much room there to jack the car up and get the jack stand top to sit flush with the small mount spot. I can see where you could easily get the jack housing to fit there but both at one time?

I assume this comment is in reference to my post regarding jacking points, not the locations for jack stands. The jacking points are for raising the car enough to place the jack stands along the sides of the car.

It would be helpful if you posted photos of your jack points along the side of the car. Those are the points that most single post lifts in shops use to raise the car, so there must be a way to do it
safely. As for being able to jack the car at the jack locations on the side of the car AND place a jack stand in the same location, only one system I know of can do so. That system is Jackpot Jackstands. That system is designed primarily for Porsche and similar sports cars. A special plate is placed on the jack lift pad, the car is jacked up at the factory jacking locations and then a special jack stand is placed under the car. When the car is lowered the plate seats onto the jack stand, keeping the car raised and the jack is removed. It doesn't work for cars with more ground clearance.

No, you jack the car up from the center point under the engine. The jack stands go onto the sides. That is how it is safely done. You can also, if you like jack up the rear and add two jackstands to have all four tires off the ground. Safely. You do NOT put a jack stand and a jack on the same point to get an area of the car up. That is just not so bright.

Unless you have the right vehicle and use Jackpot Jackstands. https://jackpointjackstands.com

In this case it is not the right vehicle.

There's also a combo jack and jackstand (
Amazon Amazon
) that solves the problem of identifying two points. Not cheap at $90, but neither is a crushed body.
