Heated Cooled Cupholders

On my previous 2020 GLE 350 I did not have Heated and Cooled cupholders and the water bottles were firmly held in place. When I purchased my 2025 GLE AMG 53 I got the Pinnacle package which included Heated and Cooled cupholders and as you drive with the water bottle placed in the cupholder they’re very wobbly and unsecured. Anyone have similar issues. I read a forum for the GLE and there was a recommendation to partially close the center console compartment to keep the water bottle secure. I would think Mercedes would engineer better cupholders. You upgrade to Heated and Cooled cupholders and sacrifice proper function just makes no sense.

Yes it isn't great. This was also just discussed recently in the GLS forum:

Don't your cup holders have those silver buttons that springs the cup tightener mechanism to firmly hold the cups?

Discussed in the thread linked by another forum member, the heated and cooled ones are lacking those hands/arms.

No there is no such mechanism just adjustable holders that don’t work when you’re making a turn or braking. Not well engineered at all. I just partially close the center console to keep the water bottle from wobbling and it seems to work. Mercedes really should fix the engineering and do a recall as I wouldn’t feel safe to keep a Hot beverage in there for fear of it spilling and staining. Water containers and tightly closed bottles I’m fine with.

not ideal but I guess a temporary solution right now would be to use the cup holders in the back seat.

I use the door. Real estate in the center console is too valuable.
Which is another reason I like the gear shift down the steering column BTW.

I find if you lift up the tab so that it's 90 degrees to the bottle after inserting your bottle it holds it pretty well.
