GLE AMG SUV Wipers

I recently picked up a GLE 53 AMG SUV and love the car. However, the wipers are awful for OEM. I was doing some research online and found that Bosch 3397014832 supposedly fits the GLE. When I look on different auto parts’ websites, it indicates that these do NOT fit the GLE 53 SUV.

Does anyone have any experience using these on their GLE AMG? Thanks!

Does your MB have magic vision wipers or standard?

Sorry — should have specified. Standard wipers with the heated nozzles (Winter Package).

Too many wiper blade manufacturers list compatibility only by blade length and or construction (such as conventional, beam or hybrid). The real issue is the attachment mechanism. MB began changing over its blade attachment mechanism a couple years ago, and when I last checked, nobody makes a compatible replacement for the mechanism for this new design (the one that's on my '19 G550). There are at least a dozen attachment designs, and anytime you buy a wiper blade, it comes with a handful of plastic adapter knuckles, most of which you toss in the landfill after finding the one you need (and none which work with MB). Automotive engineers are insane -- they think we don't need dipsticks and we do need a new wiper blade attachment.

I have the magic vision on my GLS and GLE and replace the rubber inserts. Doing so saves over $100 per set.

Interesting, the thread posted below says the Bosch model I shared does work for the GLE/GLS?

I used to do this on my Volvo. A dealer in Dallas sold them on eBay.

Where do you get the inserts?

Thanks! My issue is that my OEM blades are barely a few weeks old and are already streaking on the “down swipe” and it’s right in the driver’s view. My car is brand new and sat on the lot for 2 days after delivery so I know they’re not brittle/ruined. I was hoping to try the Bosch blades in hopes they’re better.

Sometimes cleaning the blades with soap and water will make them work better. Including new blades.
Try that before replacing them.
Alcohol also works, but can dry out some rubber compounds.

I clean my blades when they are new, and wipe them with the windshield sponge every time I fill the tank.

Same thing on my GLE63. Got it last month, the driver's blade streaks badly when swiping down.

Weird you're having the exact same issue. I've tried wiping with a damp cloth and it didn't fix it. I'm going to try again when I wash my car tomorrow morning. I usually clean the windshield with a regular window cleaner (Sprayway).

I may end up just trashing these and get the Bosch replacements

Often the problem is not the wiper blade but it's position against the glass. Most dealerships have the mercedes tool to adjust the angle that the blade contacts the glass. It should be a right angle, 90 degrees, so the rubber pivots up and down correctly for each stroke. With the correct angle set, i find the bosch aero twin works better then OEM, as the rubber between the metal part of the blade and the glass is longer, ensuring the blade pivots easrer.

Thanks! I'm trying to avoid going back to the dealer, but may have to if it continues.
