experience/advice with MB buyback of lemon

I have a 2025 AMG GLE 63S that I bought in Jan. I haven't seen it since June 30 when it went back to the service department for a second time. It started with a check engine light in mid-June. Error code was for misfire on Cylinder 6. They swapped coils, CEL went away, and I was told to return when CEL came back on. It's been there ever since. They've done various things and can't solve the problem. They've put almost 500 miles on my car with test drives. I notified MBUSA that I wanted to start the process for a lemon law buyback. I would appreciate any advice from people who have been through this process. Many thanks.

Im not personally experienced but there are plenty of threads advising on peoples experience on here. Generally, you need to look into your own states laws. There's also groups of lawyers that specifically handle these cases and will offer a free consultation, and typically the manufacturers pay the legal fees. It is in their best interest to make it smooth, in the States where they must. It usually must be out of commission for the same problem for 30 days, cumulatively or consecutively.

Thanks for your response. I've researched the law and my car qualifies as a lemon in Illinois for being >30 business days out of service. I am not using a lawyer at this point. I was just to trying to get some insight as to how MBUSA has treated other people in this situation. This is our 5th MB and 2nd AMG. Never experienced anything like this with our other cars. I have searched the threads, but not many on getting a MB buyback due to lemon. Thanks for your help.

Several recent threads on this, with good outcomes. Found two.

Thank you so much for that link to the post initiated by makris0000. Extremely helpful to see how the process plays out. Here is a quick summary of what I read about their experience for anyone else, like me, who has this question. And, as mentioned, Lemon Laws vary by state.

Car - 2024 GLE 53 AMG
State - FL
Mileage - <12K
Ownership - 16 months
Problem - Steering wheel not detecting hands. After 4 service attempts, still can't fix.

4/21/25 - Contacted MBUSA (800-367-6372) to initiate buyback process. Received Case Number.
4/22/25 - MBUSA reached out. Told process could take 6-8 weeks. They will start due diligence to see if lemon law is met.
5/1/25 - Car approved for buyback. File now passed to 3rd party (Sedgwick) to determine buyback offer. Could take 30 days to receive offer. If offer accepted, could take another 30 days to receive funds from MBUSA.
5/17/25 - After some back and forth with Sedgwick, all requested documents summitted.
5/27/25 - Received initial offer from Sedgwick. Asked to be reimbursed for window tint and coating. If get that, almost made whole.
7/7/25 - Adjuster has check and just need to coordinate drop off.
7/15/25 - Car turned into MBUSA. Did not give 100% back for window tint and ceramic coating.

For me, I am at the beginning stages. I received my Case Number 7/30/25. Here's hoping my buyback is completed by Halloween.
