GLK Sighting
Have you seen a GLK on the road YET? Nearly two months after its USA launch, I have only seen one Black/loaded GLK on Pacific Coast Hwy, in Laguna beach.
Yes, it looked great on the road and it stands out from other cars, including ML. Its proportions really looked good and it looks so much more substantial than the X3.
I live in SoCal along Newport Coast and drive LA freeways. We are talking car and Mercedes capital of the West Coast. Road & Track offices are in the neighborhood and we see cars before they are launched on a regular basis, but ONLY "1" GLK on the road in two months?

nyc here, saw one parked, it has a NJ plate tho. Believe me, I've been paying close attention to spot these suckers but i've only seen 1 in the past month.
its strange, according to my local dealer, they are selling like hot cakes, can't keep them in stock!

Only saw one at the dealer... driver was dropping something off by the looks of it. Black one and pretty dirty from the road salt/slush. Not certain how it was equiped as I saw he was driving away before I could get a good look.

Seeing a car on the road is completely diffferent than seeing a car in a show room or looking at it in your driveway. Seeing it being driven on the street is a way to step back from your pre-set attitudes and judge the car more objectively, in a real context.
The one GLK I saw driving in downtown Laguna Beach looked better in detail and proportions than seeing it at the dealer. (Note: mine is on order.) I would like to see a few more GLKs in the wild, during the day and night.
Given only 1,300+ GLKs, in USA, sold for January and spread over a few big urban areas and numerous smaller urban areas, I guess it is not suprising we have not had more sightings. Given economy and being a lesser know new offering, GLK sales seem reasonable, but low volume by more moderate priced car debuts.

sacguy, of course you are not seeing any GLKs in the SF/east/south bay area. You live in the land of "Tesla". Surely you are seeing numerous Tesla SUVs running around on lap-top batteries doing 0-60 in sub 6sec time and costing less than $150k per copy, batteries rechargable.

Just drove by my dealership in Halifax and saw 6 GLK's soon to be released into the wild. A couple of them just got off the cargo ship as they had the protective white paint cover as well as plastic over the seats and cardboard on the inside doors. Four of them black, one white and one silver. Some had bi-xenon with LED tail light. Non bi-xenon had regular bulb tail lights. All black interior with aluminium trim. Some had the 20in dual spoke wheels and some had running boards. All had folding mirrors and what surprised me the most... all had black roof racks.

Still only one sighting in Newport/Laguna area for me.
San Fernando is definitely the GLK capitol of SoCal.
FJ wanted $2k deposit to order my GLK with wood trim interior and no written commitment to take a dime of MSRP. FJ sales rep was a nice guy, called me back, did the I am not sure what my mgr will approve routine. They said they are selling every GLK at full price it is so hot. Where are their customers hiding the GLKs??
I ordered my GLK from a forum sponsor, MB of Laguna Niguel. Manny (sales guy) told me over phone he would give me $1,500 of MSRP if I ordered a GLK. When I arrived at dealer, he had order paper filled out with his sales mgrs signature for $1,500 off MSRP. No BS about trying to get his mgr to approve bla bla bla.

I saw a White GLK on the DVP North bound in Toronto. I took it as a sign that I am suspposed to choose the GLK. It does look good on the road next to everyday traffic. Its styling is definately a stand out. The GLK had 20" wheels but it also had a unexpected break squeal so I guess its got a vintage slant to it as well :-) I followed it for a while and then it was behind me and I have to say it looks great from every angle.
