when you press 'mute' button on steering wheel, when playing DVD, it will actually pause the movie.

Anyone figure out the bypass code for releasing the safety lock, when driving the car it will still play the movie. I know its not safe, but wondering if someone has figured it out.

Same happens when playing audio also. (not radio, obviously!)

I'd watch C-Class forum for that, I've been checking their forums here and there but still haven't come accross the solution.

There is a module you can buy and install in the back of the command, that can enable it. I don't think a code will release it. It sounds to me its hard wired.

Now makes me wonder how much the dealer would charge since if u do it anywhere else, warranty comes into question.

dealer would not let you do this for the same reason they lock it in first place (liability issues), i don't think warranty would matter much either as long as you can remove the device.

If DVD is playing and the car is in motion, is the audio from the DVD still available so you can "listen" to the movie?

Yes. It plays the music and all audio from the DVD. The same for the iPod interface connection.

The music plays from the iPod Video but not the video itself.

I found out today that...

The front parking light (the one at the eyebrow area) turns off when you use the turn signal

audi does the same with their new LEDs, I wonder if that's done so you can see blinker better? Whenever I see new audi turning I keep thinking the LED is out I gotta see how it looks on GLK.

+1 I agree with you that its for better visibility of the turning signal. I actually like the feature, better engineering with an eye on safety.

ehh I don't know who pays attention to front blinkers, I think rear ones and side ones are usually the key ones.

But speaking of blinkers:
If you tap the switch it'll blink 3 times. If your tap is delayed it'll blink one time.

If you have hazards on and put blinker on, the hazards will turn off till blnker is off, then hazards are back on.

This is pretty standard on most german cars what from I read, but haven't seen this mentioned here yet.

Just my two cents, but when a car is about to make a left from the opposing side, it helps seeing the blinker better. Yes side mirrors have them as well, but I guess a little thought in engineering helps. In dodge, chryslers the daylight running lap turns off, on the side with the blinker enabled. I just the extra thought in design thats all...

Anthing thing I found out yesterday:

If you have the wipers on auto-sense, and you are near emergency vehicles with flashers or strobes, your wipers will go nuts and wipe very fast

I guess that's how sensors react to the bright blinking light...imitates rain/snow falling on the windshield.

I know this was kind of mentioned somewhere, but I experienced open door issue this weekend.

I didn't close my door all the way and started driving, the MFD turned red showing open door, and the sound came on. Now what I don't get is why not show what doors are open when car is stationary like all other cars do. What if the rear door was fully opened, it would bang on something or someone. It was kind of cool to see the MFD turn red tho, definitely grabbed my attention.

This also happened to me last week, after the MFD turned red, it showed which door is not properly closed!!

Bring this old thread back to life...Found a new feature today:

I notice today if your washer fluid level is low and the warning is shown on the MFD, when you activate the windshield washer, instead of washing both the windshield and headlights together at the same time, only the windshield one is activated

If you say "readout traffic information" while you have a destination set, the GLK says out loud any traffic issues that are on your route!

Smart Key - two buttons or three?

The manual shows a smart key with three buttons - including one to unlock only the rear hatch. Mine has only two buttons, lock and unlock. The manual says this is related to vehicle's production date.

I'd like to have this feature and wonder if it might be available to me later. (My prod. date is 06/09).

Anyone have the 3-button key?

I'd make a new thread for this, but mine has 3 buttons (got in April). Do you have power tailgate? if so I'd guess you gotta have the tailgate button.

What do you mean by "if the feature will be avaialble to me later", didn't you already get your GLK?
