Sorry I meant to say its like a bike reflector, it won't light up, but if you have another vehicle and park it behind and turn on the head lights, you will see them reflect back....

I am sure its just a reflector. I have had the doors open at night with the headlights on and dont recall seeing the door light on.

Did MB skimp on the door lights to save costs? This doesn't make sense, most cars now these day have door panel lighting, including the rdx and x3 they were comparing.

I read on WSJ the othe day that BMW will no longer give out 09 sales target. Instead it will focus on inventory control and cost savings from suppliers and factories.

Scary huh? Makes you wonder if one should buy a car that's made during recession....

maybe it's time for you to replace your reflector lights so that it can be easily recognize by different people.

All my 4 doors light up.
I'm pretty sure you need the Leather package with interior light package?
My window sticker says $200.00 for light package that is not on M-B web-site.
My car was a launch model for the dealer & I wonder if I got something unique?

hahah who cares...I would not even know those little things light up.

Illuminated door seals would be nice but $680 is too much for them.

actually that is one very important safety feature, especially for driver side where you might be opening doors at night or foggy condition.

go check ur matrix, does it light up? :P

door seals light is different purpose, those are vanity, not safety.

^^ you mean door 'sill'?

Agree, this is a very basic safety feature I can't believe GLK doesn't have it in standard.

Solution: Put a couple of LED inside the reflector and paralleled them to the speaker. Then you will have the door light, plus music light show... haha
