How does promotion APR work.

I've never financed a car or bought it from a dealer so sorry if this is a silly question.

Here is the deal. Promotional APRs ususally run for each month. On the dealer's site it says you have to take delivery by March 31st to get 1.9%. So what if you have your car built? If I build and order it this Saturday, it won't be here till June, does that mean I will have to take whatever financing is available in June (month when car is delivered) and not in March?

Help is appreciated.

Yes you normally have to take delivery during the time frame of the incentive promotion. IF your GLK was being delivered by for instance the second week of April, then you could probably sign all the papers at the end of March to get the low March rate, and then take delivery in early April.

crap....what are the chances 1.9 for 66mo will be there in June.

I want very specific options like Lighting Pakage and parktronic, but I dont wan't 20 inch rims so this complicates the whole search for one on the lot. Apperantly Lighting Package and parktronic is very hard to find and if car has them it's usually loaded and has apperance package. We'll see what dealer says on saturday.

As far as I know, its the deal that you sign at the time, so you can order an you will get the deal at the time you place your order, the Audi dealer told me that if any incentives come along in the interim, you will also qualify for them, I think my MB dealer echoed the same.

Unfortunately if you are financing, they cannot "lock" in a rate until you are taking physical delivery of the vehicle. Odds are, the 1.9% will not be around in June, but if the economy and sales do not pick up, then MB financial could extend the programs. The only thing for certain that you can "lock" up is the sale price of the vehicle. What exactly is it that you want that your dealership cannot find in someone else's inventory?

I want lighting package and parktronic (besides pp, mm and heated seats) but not appearance package or running boards. I also want silver...not black or white.

Sales guy says lighting package is tough to find as well as parktronic. And if they come on the car then there are a lot of other options that I don't want to pay for. Will see what he finds tomorrow. I'm hoping 2.9% is here to stay. Bimmer has had .9% for over a year now I think.

May or may not be true. I was following MB Toronto promotion. They had 1.9% finance for B200 in Jan and Feb, but its 1.5% now.

I think demand will pick up by the summer. However, if credit conditions improve, and MB can obtain cheap financing, they might keep low apr.

IMO he's probably telling you the truth. The lighting package has been a little difficult to find without quite a bit of extra's. Good luck with your purchase .

yaulfred--you're right that it may not be 100% correct, but I do know that they cannot "lock" in a rate for him unless he is picking it up by the end of the month.

bimmer didn't have .9% on all their cars. back in dec 08, they had almost all cars with 0.9% APR, including the 08 and 09 models. Now, if you want 3 or 5 series, its 0.9 but if you want x3, that's 2.9%.

now or later, its a risk you would have to take. To think I almost bought it for 4.9% APR in Feb. 1.9% in march is a very good deal to me.

You really are having to weigh the benefits of ordering a car and getting exactly what you want, versus finding a car now, taking advantage of the incredibly low APR, and having to compromise on options. In my case, I gave up Parktronic in order to get the trailer tow package and ended up also having to get the damn running boards; but I'm still extremely happy with the decision I made.

Remember, dealers are getting inventory all of the time. Just because your dealer can't find you what you want, or very close to it, now, doesn't mean it might not be available in a couple of weeks.

See if it's cheaper to take the car with more options now and pay less interest, or pay less for the car later, but pay more for the financing.

yea guys thanks for your input, I think what you are saying makes sense. I actually saw pic of GLK with parktronic and didn't like the look, so I think parktronic can go. We'll see what they have tomorrow.

The rear camera with the NAV really gives you a great view of how close the rear bumper is to objects. With this option Parktronic is not necessary unless you have trouble judging the distance in front of you, which I think is a lot easier with the GLKs elevated seating position.

So the dealer was able to find a car with similar specs. However it's arriving in US on 4/8. If the promo apr is extended to april, I will take that one if not I'll wait and see.

I change my a mind a bit, which made finding this car possible. No more parktronic, really don't like the look on GLK. I don't if they use different supplier for cheaper MB's, but it looks terrible imo. Also decided to go with 20's as they come with better tires (Pirrelli's vs. Continentals). I read pretty bad reviews on conti's on tirerack.

For those of you thinking of leasing your GLK. I was told by the finance gal that when April hits the GLK will be 3mths into its introduction and that MB will be changing the residual value a bit lower, I don't think this makes any sense since its based on the buy back 36mths down the road but I was told it will be changed.
