Cargo Cover and other parts

I just received the cargo cover that I ordered from Romano Mercedes in Syracuse, NY. They shipped it to me in Florida. It looks great. I enclosed pictures. It's a nice finishing touch to the car. If anybody needs parts for their Mercedes they do have a discount if you mention that you are a member of MB World Discussion Forum. You need to only speak to their parts manager Tom Colasanti at 315-637-4500.

How do their prices compare to this place? I ordered all weather mats from dealerfit- looked like a great price.

I really don't know how their prices will compare. My cargo cover was a gift. My suggestion is to call both and go with the least expensive.

Wow, looks nice. In the process of ordering one as well, got a good price of $236.00 minus shipping from Valley Motors Mercedes.

When we were looking at the GLK350 at the dealership, I noticed that neither of the cars they had in stock had a cargo cover. My sales associate told me that cargo covers had to be purchased separately from the parts department for $240. When we picked up our GLK (5 days ago), I was pleasantly surprised to see that the cargo cover was installed. I just kept my mouth shut as I assumed I accidentally got something for nothing (RARE when buying a Benz). Has anyone else had their cover included for free?

Before someone replies and says "they probably charged you for it", I did look at every line item and every option before signing. I did not pay for the cover.

Yours didn't come with cargo cover standard? Mine did - was it part of an option package?

From what I can gather, the cargo cover is free for models purchased in Canada but they cost extra for those of us living in the US. I appear to have gotten one for free despite living in the US. So I was just wondering if anyone else got one for free.

It was not part of an option package. When we ordered the car, my sales associate told me that cargo covers had to be purchased separately from the parts department for $240. That's why I was surprised that our GLK was delivered with a cargo cover and were not charged $240 for it.

There was one in my car but I was not charged for it. Maybe it was in there & they forgot to remove. I got Sport package & the car in showroom had fancy wheels which I did not want so they put the standard ones on. Maybe they were throwing in the cargo cover but I checked my sticker & it was not added.

cargo cover looks nice, and I don't mean to be arrogant about it, but what's the point of it? If you fold seats to put something big in the trunk it has to be removed, right? Also it limits access to further end of the trunk when loading/unloading. And unless you carry gold bricks in the trunk and park in Harlem, there is no reason to hide what's in your trunk (and windows are tinted too in the back).

So what am I missing?

I would just as soon not have people looking into the cargo area as they are walking by. A little bit of "out of sight, out of mind" I guess. Mine came with the vehicle so it wasn't a matter of having to decide whether it was worth $200+ for the option.

NYC believes that any add on, I mean any add on is not needed. If the GLK came without wheels and someone on here added wheels and took pics, he would say "I don't think the GLK needed anything added to it", or "I don't see the point of adding these things, it makes it look cheap."

I used the last of the gold bricks to buy the Benz, so that's not the issue. To me, it's all about opportunity crime. It's equivalent to locking your doors. Why lock your doors? Why not always park the car someplace safe instead? Unfortunately, there are criminals all over the place (not just Harlem), and I don't want to make it easy on them. Don't let anyone know what's in your car. It's the same reason why I don't just leave my Oakleys sitting on the dash when I park the car at the store. I don't golf, but if I did, I wouldn't want anyone to know that there is a set of clubs in my car (just an example). I'm not advocating paranoia... just taking a few simple steps to ensure that a criminal will keep walking past my car and go to someone else's car.

You are mostly correct. If I were loading something long (like lumber), I could fold down the seats and leave the cargo cover there. If I were loading something really bulky (like a large-screen TV), I would have to fold down the seats and remove the cargo cover. You are correct that it is not ideal. For me the cover will be useful more often than it will be a burden, but I can understand how you might not agree.

I purchased the cargo cover for additional peace of mind. I don't need to advertise what I'm transporting.

lol take it easy, I didn't say any add on are not needed. Tints, clear bra, mud flaps, wider tires, brighter lights, wheel locks, rubber mats etc. are all good additions.

I actually wanted to get cargo cover as it makes trunk seem neater, but could not justify price and purpose. My trunk is always empty. And the tints in the back are pretty dark to see what's in the trunk, no?

I was trying to see if there are other reasons ppl get it, what's wrong with that?

Any updates on where to get the cargo cover for a good price? I just ordered my new GLK today and my dealership did not have any cargo covers available...I was hoping maybe ebay would have one or two, but no such luck...

My GLK came with cargo cover standard must be a European delivery thing? Anyway I would have invested in one if it was not included.

Yeah, I think cargo covers are standard in Canada...but not here in the US

I work in an unsavory part of town and would feel so much better if I could cover up anything in the back...don't want to entice anyone. My pathfinder came standard with the cargo cover...seems so odd that Mercedes Benz doesn't...

Hey Guys... I picked up my car in April when NOBODY in the US was getting the cargo cover for free. Now, they're standard on all US deliveries! I went back and (politely) squawked to my dealer here in Houston... and they took the one out of the showroom model and gave it to me right then and there. Cool! And it saved me $240 + tax, becuz I was going to buy one if I had to!

Pretty good for you, but sucks for the person who gets the car which they took the cargo net out of...

I just picked up my GLK today and asked about the cargo covers being standard in US deliveries. I was told they are not currently standard and was quoted around $340 for the part! I hope my dealer was wrong, if you can tell me where your dealer got that info, it might help me out...

Thanks!
