Got my GLK ($36,600 MSRP) at invoice, $34,700. I then had a fleet rebate of $1,000 through the Co. I work for. So I bought it for 33,700, @1.9% for 66 months and I get ot write off the sales taxes and excise tax (thanks Obama...) Not bad.
$36,600 = panoramic + ipod + destination.

As usual, this tax benefit does not apply to the SUPER RICH (govt. speak for those making over $125k) and the most likely people to buy MB/BMW.
Not clear if this tax deduction reduces your "adjusted income" which means you get 20 cents to 40 cents back per dollar of sales tax paid or if the tax deductions reduces your tax bill by the total $$$ spent on sales tax.
If you make less than $125k per year adjusted and are buying a Mercededs, even 30 cents on the dollar back from sales tax paid will buy a few tanks of gas.
Not clear if this tax deduction reduces your "adjusted income" which means you get 20 cents to 40 cents back per dollar of sales tax paid or if the tax deductions reduces your tax bill by the total $$$ spent on sales tax.
