Q5 vs GLK
Audi has begun to offer significant discounts on price, free maintenance for 4 years, free sport rack among a few other incentives. The Q5 and GLK are both good cars yet the Q5 is now offering great incentives. Does anyone know if Mercedes will be offering an incentive soon?. I have not bought yet.

Q5 is a nice car, but I don't like its design and recent reliability issues I've been reading about new A4 and even S5 (both have steering issues) kept me away from Audi. Also Q5 is more expensive when you price comparable models.

had no idea that Nissan and Audi had close ties.
Speaking of FX, I really liked the interior of new FX37, I thought it was better than pretty much everything else I test drove. It was def a huge upgrade from G37 which seemed like a nissan. The only complaint was the navi screen, it needs to have higher resolution.

When we post price type comments / questions we should perhaps note whether this is for the US or Canada. But then again, in Canada there are never really any really good dealer or manufacturer incentives on these types of vehicles - so we should always assume this is for the US anyway 
In Canada there are no real incentives for either the GLK or Q5 other than what you can negotiate with the dealership directly. GLK had some $600 promo which runs out the end of June, and the Q5 had a no security deposit promo, but by no means is this a steal from either vendor...I have heard 2k off the GLK and about $1700 off the Q5 (from the dealers), but that's pretty much it.
You guys in the US have it pretty good when it comes to inventives and price.

they make the first 2 monthly payments for you when you finance with MB financial, BMW has had it for a while so MB has it now too. I didn't get it since I got the car before 2 payment thing came out.

When I bought my GLK, I was turning in my leased S4 so Audi was all over owner loyalty etc...
I had 3 main reasons for choosing the GLK over the Q5, looks, ride quality and value for money...
The Q5 in my opinion looks just like all the other crossovers (looks like a marshmallow to me) out there and the sideview mirrors look like they were taken off an 18 wheeler...
The ride quality on the Q5 for me was as hard as my S4 and I thought it should be softer
The GLK I bought (metallic paint, premium package 1, multimedia package and appearance package) was $42k out the door, an equivalent Q5 even with the Audi deals was $48k

honestly I'm not sure, I saw it on MB website a couple of month ago, assumed it's still going on, and somebody on this forum reported that they go 2 payment deal, although his/her overall deal was about the same as ususall after factoring in the two payments.

i think i took delivery on my car 6/4/09..i will have to look at the paperwork and my dealer said nothing to me...maybe i will contact mb finacial and ask them..i havent gotten anything yet from them wanting some money...from me...soon i bet though...

just checked the MB site, seems that they don't have that promotion in June anymore, and they even rolled the rates up, 1.9% is only avaialble up 36mo. not 66. I guess MB is really adjusting supply this time. Good thing you got 1.9% for 66 months.

financing terms go as of date of delivery, that's when majority of the paperwork should be done, I believe, at least that was my case...but if nothing was said then there is no way to go back...that's what "at participating dealers" statement is for, they can just say they didn't have that promotion. Enjoy the GLK.

The B6 A4 ('02-05) & B7 A4 ('05.5 - '08) platform is Audi only, though the Passat did have the same "B6" name designation. The B6 Passat platform was based off of the Golf/Jetta platform.

The new B8 MLP (Modular Longitudinal Platform) platform is not. The Q5/A5/A4 share this new platform.
The last time a A4 platform was shared was the B5 platform. VW borrowed the B5 A4 ('96-'01) platform from Audi for the Passat. I checked out the Q5 at the dealer in Scottsdale last week. I didn't drive but I banged around in it for a while. I was impressed but it just seems too big for what we wanted-an SUV smaller than our two previous RX's. Also, we love the styling of the GLK over the Q5.

As far as I know, the GLK gets 16 city and 21 hwy with 4matic all wheel drive. The Audi Q5 on the other hand gets 18 city and 24 hwy with quattro all wheel drive, if you really want the glk with better MPGs, you will have to import it from germany, the GLK 280 gets 21 city and 26 hwy with 4matic! As for mileage, I just returned from a 1200 mile road trip to KC and back to Denver...
Averaged 22.3 MPG on the trip and 68mph... I believe the published MPG figures are a little low...
