Of course it is. My point was that Germany has more than its share of freezing weather so one would think the cars built there would be able to withstand the effects of cold.

Passenger daytime running light and tail light flash with car OFF!

I think my 2010 GLK 350 is winking at me...lol. Here's the issue, I will have the vehicle parked outside my office, engine off and locked. As I am inside, throughout the day I look out and just the passenger side daytime running light is on, then it will started flashing "on/off/on" ever few to 30 seconds. Also, while the daytime running light is flashing, the passenger rear tailgate is "on" constantly. Sometimes I go out to start the car and then turn it back off, but it still flashes until it just goes off on it's own when it feels like it. This only happens a few times a month, it is very bizarre!

Anyone else every have this issue??

Service flash (reset) is necessary.

Mercedes Service has no idea what the issue is, even after I showed them the video, no fault codes. They said they had never seen it happen in the GLK, but something similar did happen on the R class. They are still doing nothing to fix the problem.

You need to escalate this past the dealer level. Since you have the video to prove it I would not stop until it's fixed. Are you in the US or Canada? Can you go the Lemon Law route (US only?)

Jerky Transmission...

Got our GLK this past Monday (2 May 2011).

We just had our first long trip (108 miles roundtrip) and this happened to us at least 3 times. All of the instances happened while trying to accelerate after briefly slowing down. I'll contact the service dept this week and see if they can take a look at it.

Well the tranny is definitely not cold. This happened after 50+ miles into our drive. We have a total of 195 miles in the Odometer now.

This is not unusual. Most cars do this. If you slow down and then try to accelerate, it will hesitate as it finds the appropriate gear. The only way around this (IMO) is a manual transmission or much more horsepower.

I understand about shifting as it finds the appropriate gear, but what happens to us is it "jerks" the whole vehicle and it's NOT subtle.

These new intelligent transmissions sometimes get very temperamental. If this continues, I would suggest getting your service rep in the car for a demonstration. Most likely the tranny needs to be reset or re-flashed!

Good luck.

Thanks!

We'll monitor it the next couple of days and hopefully "learns" our driving style. My wife and I are not "lead foots" so we'll see how this goes.

Just got back from the MB Service Dept to get the tranny looked at. No fault codes.

They were able to replicate the "jerky shift". I actually spoke to the mechanic (very knowledgeable) and he basically said that it's still in the "breaking in" phase.

He spoke briefly about the factory special lube and how the break-in process works for the tranny.

He's not too concered and said that they have it on record should the issue persist.

Exclamation GLK 350 Issues

Hello folks; I purchased by GLK 350 2010 a year ago (used) but still well under warranty from a friend. It was kept in excellent condition but for a little door ding. Recently I've been having the following problems:

1) Power mirrors don't always fold out and one got stuck closed once. Dealership has replaced the wiring and it happened again the other day.

2) The MOST concerning...I took the car through an automatic 'touch less' car wash...so pressurized water washed the car. I felt a drip on my leg. Both Right and Left A pillars (through the air bag symbol) were visibly leaking water!!! Needless to say I'm NOT happy at all. I have an appointment with the deanship tomorrow.

Anyone else have these problems?

Chrome trunk molding to prevent scratches

My chrome piece is sealed on the right and left edges until the middle. Is this supposed to be loose in the middle to prevent water from getting trapped. If anyone can press down on their GLK trunk chrome (middle) to see if yours moves up and down.
Thanks

the warning light is an indication of a Transmission issue. The bearings have a problem and you might need a new tranny. They fixed mine initially and then my vechicle would miss acceleration at app 30k. they then replaced my trasmission.

You will probably never get the $5K back if you sell it.

What kind and grade of gas do you use?

What kind of mileage do you have on the car?

If you like it so much keep it.

I have a 2010 with 52K miles with problems at all. I bought mine new. I only burn premium in my car. It runs great.

Yikes, $5K??? What are they replacing??? Did you possibly get a 2nd opinion? That price seems awful high for a 'misfire'. As well, I would go "up the ladder" with your warranty company. Somethings not right....!

Koenig1 yeah yikes is right they said that the valve seat is not sealing right.. I am going to take the warranty company to court because this is just not right. Why am I paying $160 more a month for warranty that wont cover me for this type of issue!

OK.... I'm going to assume you didn't get a 2nd opinion!!! If, in fact it is a leaky valve... someone is hosing you! To remove the head of a engine, do a complete valve refacing, pressure check etc, and replace with approprite gaskets, etc should cost a consumer anywhere between $1200 > $3000 depending on where they go to get the job done! There will be carbon in present head, especially if valve isn't seating, as the leak will cause a less than optimal 'fuel burn'. Reguardless of how the engine got to that point, the warranty company should own up to their warranty! I would get some written documentation from mechanics, preferably MB, stating that 'carbon' would be there....
Good luck...
