Discount in Vancouver

I understand alot of people are having problems negotiating a discount on a new GLK here on West Coast (Vancouver, BC).

My family is a long time customer of MB West Broadway, and whenever we get a new car, we get a VIP price with no haggling (even on new release AMG models).!

There are 5 people in the family, and at any given time, we have 2-3 MB's on lease. They're always bought together and signed on the same terms, so everytime they expire and we walk in the showroom, our Rep and the Manager knows they've got a multi-car deal in the bag!

Let me know if you're ready to buy and I can refer you. It's win-win. You'll get a discount and I'll get an even better discount on our next cars for referring business

thanks ben-c...
there are a few options of buying without haggling.
Unless "your" discount for us is more than 2K, then I think the discount brokers would be doing a better job. So far I am able to get about close that and a great rate on accessories. I know the dealership as well...

With current demand, I don't think a broker will be able to get you 2k off a GLK in Van. On a base GLK for instance, there is $3500 profit. If you get $2000 off, that leaves $1500. Any self respecting broker is not gonna do a new car deal on a brand new MB for less than $1000, which will leave $500 to the dealership. If there is a salesman involved, he'll get 20% or $100, which = no deal unfortunately.

If you live here, you know how it is! Espescially in RMD Why would they give you a dollar off when the rep knows that the next housewife or rich kid who walks in is gonna pay full price without giving it a second thought, just to get the "latest accessroy" to show off.

In all honesty, I would not go to a broker. You can negotiate the same deal yourself or better, since with no middle man to pay, there's more room to discount.

Hey Ben,

I'm looking to purchase a GLK in the next 2 weeks. I actually just test drove it today and I love it. I had a serious talk with one of the salesmen at the boundary road dealership today and he said that in all honestly the most he would deall off would be 500-750$. Which salesman / dealership do you work with to get better deals? I'm looking for 2000$ off ruffly and would be happy.

Cheers,

Daniel

Yeah true. I'm looking to get a Grey on Black with xenons, navi package and the sport package. And the rearview camera added on. I think it was about 46.5K or something. You think they can do 1500 off? Thanks man.

Couple more things... Did you want the Artico or leather interior, and what kind of trim? Also did you need financing, or do you have anything to trade? If you're serious about buying and are just going to write a cheque, then pm me and I could go down with you.

To be exact:

Grey (Metallic) on Black (Arctico)
Sport Package
Command Package
Xenon Package
Rearview Camera

I'm going to be paying in full but with a trade-in as well. I know the guys at MB Boundary Rd said the max they can do is $1000 off. How much do you think would be possible to get?

There is a lot of info in there to give you a good idea. Not sure how things work on the west coast, but you have nothing to lose by trying for a bigger discount even with a trade in. This is war, make them work for you. We may desire their product but we have options, so keep in mind, they need us more than we need them.

Unfortunately the west coast is alot different in negotiating new car prices for german automobiles. They are stuborn and know that if we won't buy it for their price, they know they will get another person that Will. Especially the local wealthier asians in the area (no offense or racism). And I don't blame them cause if I was in their shoes I would do the same, lol.

So tell you what. Buy a car from the Ontario, Barrie dealership, I'll drive it to Vancouver, while you pay for the gas, and with the money you save I'll take half and pay for my flight home. Sounds like a plan?? Great. Everyone saves and I even get to stay my brother in BC. Not that he'd want to see me, but all the more reason to go down there and bug him til he begins to twitch.

Any Deal?

micropower, if you willing to wait a bit... I will be asking for deal on 2 units as my colleague is looking for one as well. I am not sure how much Ben is really getting "your discount".
I will be inquiry at 2 brokers soon and will probe before committing.

Well I was joking about transporting a car over provinces, but back in Ontario, I got $4.5k off retail and then we talked about trade ins.

Lets say you are in no rush, so you tell a dealer $50k all in with x options. Tell them to contact you if interested and then walk away. They will call you and try and up your price. If you don't budge, but tell them, to hurry cos you are at the BMW or Nissan dealership right now. you may be surprised after a few days how they will respond.

Good luck.

4.5K, is well done.. Most ppl have received 2K off msrp, with 3 member i know got it with 500 clothing coupon which was offered in Oakville. With 4.5K discount how much does the dealer really make then?

Based on lulumomo's post in the thread "To: TORONTO GLK owners." where a dealer paid Wholesale and with the options listed below:

Retail Price * Wholesale Price **
Base $41,800.00 $38,040.00
AIR CONDITIONING $100.00 $00.00
(just guessing here)
PREMIUM PKG $3,500.00 $3,010.00
SPORT PKG $800.00 $690.00
BI-XENON PKG - $1,000.00 $860.00
MEDIA INTERFACE $375.00 $320.00
Com Nav PKG $1,800.00 $1,550.00
Tow Hitch $650.00 $575.00 (just guessing here)
Running Boards $800.00 $700.00 (just guessing here)
PDI $1900.00 $900.00 (just guessing here)
Total $52,075.00 $46,645.00

Assuming Air Cond tax is a recoup, a grab not a cost for MB .
Assuming F&PDI IS a huge cash grab, unless something goes wrong on delivery. (I mean, what does it actually cost to pull off sticky white plastic, do a QC and park it in the rear cost? Being totally naive here I think I am being generous at $900)
Assuming base and parts mark-up is at 14%.
Assuming the other values dont count because they are all tax based and not for profit.

Then, $52,075 minus $46,645.00 minus(discount) $4500 = $930 plus the $1200 they probably made on my trade in after they juggled all the numbers.....$2130.00

In other words, 4% to 5% on Wholesale. If so, then they are welcome to it.

But keep in mind this is completely based on numbers that I cannot confirm.

By the way, I want to add, that I love my GLK, and I still would have loved it if I'd paid 5k more for it. Only for that price, it should smell of more leather than just the steering wheel. I have desired this beast ever since i saw the Extreme Testing Vid on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-NwSgAWVp8 After that, I stopped looking at the Murano, Lexus 350's and Infinity FX. They were pretty, but not as tough as "Marky" is. Thats my kids nickname for this beast. Marky the Mercedes

I just ordered my 2010 GLK350 4matic a few days ago.
- 2010 GLK...............$ 41,800
- Premium Package.....$ 3,500
- Bi-Xenon Package....$ 1,000
- Sport Package.........$ 800
- Trailer hitch.............$ 675
- Metallic paint...........$ 890

My brother is a good friend of the New car Sales Manager. The best he can do for me was $ 1,000 discount. And gave me extra $500 on my trade after giving me top black book price. So, total discount of $ 1,500. He said repeat customers get $750 off for the GLK. Now I have to wait 3 months.

In the west coast it is nearly impossible to receive a discount of that amount on a brand new benz or bmw. I know how to haggle but these guys are stubborn. I've done the whole walkout thing before but the salesmen in the end didn't even care as they know there will be another customer willing to pay full price here shortly after.

Micropower99,

If you are serious in getting the GLK, let me know what year make model of your trade. I'll talk to my brother's friend for you. The only catch is you will have to wait three months for delivery, because nobody has stock. That's why they don't give discounts right now (no stock). I ordered mine last week and deliver time for me is mid Oct. BTW, I am in Vancouver.

I live in Vancouver and is also serious in getting a GLK. I deal with a guy at the Broadway dealership and he told me max he can do is 750 to 1000.
I have a friend that may also be interested.
Is there a way to do a group buy?

I'm sure the dealer would rather to sell 2 than one, so you can add this on your side of negotiation.

Group Buy....that sounds like a plan. I am planning to order in September with a colleague of mine. Perhaps we can add a few more to the hat for 'deeper discount'. As more than 2 would really keep the dealer smiling...
