GLK SOUND SYSTEM Accessories

Hi All,
I was wondering whether you could give me input on whether the MM package comes with the PCMCIA card slot....

Does the Ipod Interface have the USB ports too...

Otherwise I think the only way to have music uploaded would be to burn discs and play them..

Please advise.

I have the MM package. the GLK came with an iPod/AUX cable. I bought the USB cable seperately (so I can plug in a USB key), which replaces the iPod cable. I also have the PCMCIA slot.

Not sure which of all these is part of the MM package. I'm sure others will answer that question.

Where does the cable connect to the head unit? My wife wants to connect her iPhone or iPod in her GLK but only has the Aux port in the glove box and it does not control the devices with the steering wheel controls. Her GLK has MM (nav/card slot/reverse camera/Sirius) I found a part number from another thread. Her old SLK had a 32 pin cable in the glove box and everything worked fine. Thanks!

The connector is in the glove box in the GLK also. I don't know all the details but my iPod connection was listed seperately on the sticker from the MM package. Maybe the iPod connector is a seperate option.

Ah! I just checked and the "iPod/MP3 Media Interface Package" is an extra $300 on top of the MM package (in the USA).

I just check the window sticker... she only has "320 Multimedia Package". So now how do I get it to interface with the MM head unit? iPod interface or UMI? Can both or either be installed to the MM system by the dealer?

Ipod Interface is separate option with Navigation & cost $300.00.
If you don't have the navigation? then it's a ipod interface kit for $375.00.
I doubt it could be installed afterward? but that's for your service dept to answer.

For $375 it's got to be a different cable and socket behind the glovebox. MB wouldn't do anything really hard for $375 dollars.

Isn't that the price to check the tire pressure?

Next week Apple is coming out with device that will allow one to easily transfer data from your computer to your ipod. It will cost $60. Wish I had my GLK now!

Can someone please tell me where the subwoofer is located in the upgrade HK?

Question for the audio 20 (non HK).

In the brochure, it mentioned that the standard audio (non-hk) has 8 speakers.
- 2 Tweeters (Front Doors)
- 2 Speakers (Front Doors)
- 2 Speakers (Passenger Doors)

Can someone tell me where' the other 2 located ?

In the back pillar, there 2 speakers holes but it does not sound it has connections.

Thanks

I was thinking that too, but you do need the spare tire. I wish they'd put it under the seats, I belive that's how it's done in Bimmers, and many other cars.

sub doesn't need to louder. with the sound adjustment available the sub puts out more bass than needed. Making it louder would be dumb.

always nice how there's the random guy that tells everybody their ideas are dumb :-D I also happen to think that the sub in the HK system is a bit underpowered. The sound clarity is amazing but it doesn't have the pumping bass that I do in my CLK or SL

I think bass sux on GLK, mine is set to 9.5 and I wish there more of it. JBL in my Solara had better bass than this.

Just remove the spare tire. In case you need it, pull the subwoofer driver and use it instead, its a round metal frame with rubber rim around it anyways.......

Whether the bass is deep enough really depends on the type of music you like to listen to. There is no speaker system that can accomodate all genres of music and does well.

I had my C43 sound system customized further despite the Bose system that I ordered with the car. At that time I found the the bass had no presence. But again, I was young then. With a McIntosh amplifier in the trunk and a bass speaker installed in a customized fibre glass enclosure within the spare tire's wheel, it worked wonderfully with deep solid bass and not sacrificing the spare tire(It is illegal not to carry spare tire in the car, at least in Ontario, unless you have run-flats). I also had a Sony head unit that could be customized in different frequency ranges according to the ambient sound reception within the passenger compartment . In those days when MP3 was nonexistent, I had a DVD unit, a MiniDisc changer, a VCD changer, a CD changer, all controlled by the Sony joystick. Nowadays it is not worth the trouble nor the money to revamp the whole system. Most of the cars now have the head unit integrated with Bluetooth, GPS and other controls. Now, most of the time I just listen to the Sirius radio.

Satisfied

I am very satisfied with the quality of sound reproduction with the HK7.

Try playing Age of Innocence (enigma) or Sweet Dreams remix (Beyonce) to notice the difference.
