Check your oil level after delivery

750kms on the odo now...so I check the oil level and its at the lowest hole on the dipstick. (NOT BELOW THE MIN MARK)... its not a concern but i'm just wondering if the factory fill is not to the MAX mark. All the vehicles I've bought in the past have had the oil level delivered at MAX or FULL. Either way I think the factory or dealer should top up the oil, especially since the first few 1000kms/miles are critical for break in and oil consumption can be high.
80% of typical owners wouldnt think about checking oil in a new car.....just bothers me since the first service interval is 20,000kms.

So check your oil level or report your oil level at delivery...what is it at, im curious.

I topped up the oil to the MAX level with German Castrol Syntec 0W30...it was down 1.5L from MAX

Better use Mobil 1 0W-40. It meets Mercedes MB 229.5 standard.

Well so does Castrol Syntec European Formula 0W-30...
GC 0W30 is more sheer stable over 0W40. Mobil 1 0W40 sheers down to a 0W30 after time anyways.... GC stays as a 0W30 longer.

OMG oils, dont get me started...ive been through this debate on Vwvortex.... in the end both oils are excellent, but its when oil analysis is done the GC always came out on top.

Did the low oil light came on? Not sure if you came this across already but check oil by taking the dipstick out and then putting it back in and then taking out to see where the oil level it. If you just took it out to check, it's not representative of the oil level.

No low oil light, the oil level was above minimum but it was 1/4 the way up, therefore 3/4 to the MAX mark. I'm just saying the engine should be delivered with oil at the MAX level...very critical during break in period as the potential for oil consumption is high

Oh i do know how to check oil BTW ........
