2010 GLK
In one sense it replaced a 2001 PT Cruiser, which was our larger car. But when my wife refused to get a car as large or larger to replace it (she got a Mini) I had to trade in my 2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe. I reconciled myself to it by the fact that I'm well past midlife now, so I no longer need a midlife crisis car.

2014 CLA 45 AMG; 2012 GLK 350 4MATIC (totaled); 2009 VW GTI (sold)
2009 VW GTI DSG, had only 33,000 km when I sold it, loved the fuel efficiency and DSG transmission, but had an opportunity to step up to a Mercedes, never looked back. Would love to get a summer only car now that I have a AWD GLK

GLK350 4matic
I traded in a 2006 Jaguar S-Type VDP for the GLK. The Jag was getting too unreliable to use as a long trip car, and, wife wanted a SUV. I test drove the GLK and we both loved it.

2009 Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 Turbo 4 motion. Her parents live next to a forest preserve and while parked there a field mouse got into the engine bay. Chewed up a lot of the wiring and although it was fixed under insurance, it never was the same and a lot of electrical gremlins were unleashed.

2006 Mazda 5 Touring... I loved this car and my kids did as well.
The 5 had more room, was cheaper (20K cheaper), never gave me any problems (most vehicle will treat you just as good as you treat them). Didn't have as much features though I.E. Sat radio, heated front seats, power tail/lift gate, ect... Lacked slightly in build quality. Not that it was cheap but the MB is just that much better.
It doesn't carry the prestige a Mercedes-Benz does, either. A few months ago I was looking for a house to buy. If I pulled up to an open house in my Integra, it would be a few minutes before I was acknowledged. If I arrived in the Mazda 5, I would have someone acknowledge me as I was walking towards the house. Now i'm looking for a home again and when I pull up in the GLK, they walk up to the car and help me and my kids out the car. This isn't the sole reason that I love this car but it's one of those things that you get with these vehicles that you can't "advertise" for...

'04 BMW 325xi...piece of crap.
Battery/alternator warning light came on every other day...dealership could never find issue even though I brought it in twice w/idiot light on. Ignored it after that.
Radiator hose blew at 35K miles.
electric in side view mirrors/control burnt out.
valve cover leaked oil onto manifold and smoked..gasket replaced twice, cover replaced, went out of warranty and I did gasket myself..traded before it leaked again.
