not sure if the +50 is a fitment issue but found a wheel and tire deal for some 18's..$1450 No TPMS and $1650 with TPMS shipped anywhere in Canada.

Tires are Falken HS439 and rims are 18x8 +50

Guy is local here in Calgary but is hooked up all over Canada...

I bought my winter tires and rims from Tire Rack last year, and it was around $1400 including shipping, lug nuts and balancing, they were delivered in a week.

You're right! I just went out to look at the GLK and the tires are M+S rated ..... I drove in deep snow last Jan when I picked up the car in Kelowna and came over the Duffy Lake Road via Lilooet back to Whistler in a snowstorm and thought the 20's did just fine. And here I was fretting over how to find decent looking 18" rims to fit the set of new 225/60/18 Continental snows I already had for this winter.

GLK with the 20" P Scorpions tracked really well in Whistler all winter, and all this time it didn't even dawn on me to check if they were M+S! I was worried about getting stopped by the cash grabbing ticketing types this year. Wheel and Tire budget can now go back to the Single Malt fund.

So thanks for that picture!

BTW, the 20" rims are very easily curbed as the tires just don't have enough sidewall for any rim protection. And the "insurance" that I bought doesn't cover curb rash - specifically noted. So looks like I have to find one good pothole for the rear DS rim I nicked rounding a parkade ticket dispensing island......

As previously noted, both the Dunlop & Pirelli tires fitted on 2012 GLKs have the snowflake in a mountain symbol on the sidewall. Verified by my eyeballs on two GLKs side by side.

Can anyone confirm with certainty whether or not a Canadian GLK needs TPMS? I'd rather not spend the money on them if they're useless. I check the tire pressure on my vehicles regularly anyway, and if I'm in the garage checking one vehicle I might as well do the other one.

Ordering some 18" BBS SR's and Michelin Xi2's - I think this will be a great winter setup that'll still look good.

Canadian cars do not use TPMS devices. The tire pressure loss warning system we have here uses the differential rotation speed sensed by the ABS system to determine that one tire is critically underinflated.

Bottom line, do not purchase any TPMS devices as our cars are not equipped with the receivers to receive the TPMS signals, so they will not work even if you do purchase them!

The best way to tell is look at your stock tires. If the valve stem is a regular rubber, then no tpms. If they are metal and secured with nut(s) to the wheel, that is the TPMS.

After doing my research (and read all the thread) looks like I should be getting the 235/60/R17 Right?
Where is a good place to get them (in Mississauga preferably)

Thanks,

Or order them from TireRack and they are shipped to your door. All taxes, duties and shipping are paid upfront (so no surprises) and even when all those charges are included you will likely save 10-20% over local costs. Plus they have a much larger selection. Tires23 have fair prices, but not as good as TireRack even delivered to Canada, and when I checked for the GLK they had only the Blizzak WS70 as an option, whereas TireRack also had the Pirelli Scorpion, Michelin X-Ice2, Goodyear Ultragrip Ice, Dunlop WinterSport D3 and a few others. BTW, I went with the Blizzak WS70's in 235/60-17 and RIAL alloy rims.

Oh, and I might as well ask here ......... For those of you using 17" (235/60-17) tires for winter, what tire pressure are you running?? Same as specified for the 19" and 20" (33 psi all around) or have you found other specs from MB??

Tire Rack is not always cheaper.

My BBS SR's with Michelin Xi2's are about $200 less here in Canada, once everything is factored in ($270 less after the rebate)... and I was able to get them locally in Calgary.

I run 35 psi all around on 17" WS70 blizzaks. If fully loaded I add 2 psi on top of that.

Women are frustrating - I have to get one of my wheels on my GTI repaired as my wife curbed it the last time she drove it.

Many Thnks, Baby G, for your input and help here! And of course your patient (asked tens of Qs over the PM)! In for the group buy! Decided to go with Pirelli + GTS (2nd pic, silver 235/60 R17 x8 offset 35). Hope it would not snow/ rain next Tues for the install (need to drive across from GTA east end to west end)!

With appreciation,

Just got the GTS rims (actually it turns out they are x7.5 not x8) and Pirelli tires installed and balanced. The place is clean, the owner is very friendly, and the price is right. Will definitely recommend to my friends! And many thanks for BabyG, for your co-ordination and legwork! will post the pic this weekend.

Oh, one more thing, got a "check tire pressure soon" warning while driving back home, got off HWY401, checked the pressures are 32-33. should I restart the "Tire Pressure" on the service menu?

Looks like you are on wrong forum.

Anyway, just punch present and proposed sizes into a site like this. The find out what your offset and the proposed wheel offsets are (a number after ET). They should be close.

2014 deals

BabyG..i see this might be the first post for 2014. I have a 2013 GLK 4matic and am looking for winter rims and tires. What do you have to offer? My standard size is 20in but 17 is fine for winter.
