Does Mercedes paint our GLKs with this new technology?
"New nano-particle clearcoat will be introduced as standard for both metallic and non-metallic paint finishes"
I found this at this site. Pretty interesting.

I hope we got this paint technology. I hate swirls and scratches!

than a human hair, but when joined together they are incredibly
durable. When the clearcoat is applied, the nano-particles float

Yes it is on your GLK. It was developed along with Sikkens and Wesel/BYK, two huge German auto paint makers. Audi, Porsche, Bentley, Lambo, some VW's, and even Infiniti's now have it as well.
The problem is, if you're ever in an accident, your insurance company will most likely reject and/or deny using the same MB paint coatings to repair the car.... (way too much $$$) (even dealership autobody shops use the cheaper stuff to save them money but charge you the same.)
They most always go for the cheaper junk from Dupont etc.
Here's the same article with more details: http://www.auto123.com/en/news/car-n...tid=21942&pg=1

Hey ty.... does it require any special base coat prep or is it a several layer application like they say? Since it's a lacquer, does it apply well in a std. paint booth?

It'a part of the water bourne system, the base is with water bourne the top is still the lacquer, coverage is pretty good, 2 maybe 3 cars from a gallon if your good, we bult a new facility a couple of years ago and bought new booth's to accomodate this paint, mostly for the base though the rep says you can spray in a conventional booth but the cure time is way longer.
