canadian extended warranty deal?

Any Vancouver GLK'rs receive any discount on the MB extended warr'ty?

From model year 2010 24 months 36 months

C / SLK / GLK (not including AMG) $ 2,490 $ 2,810

would like to keep the GLK for 5-8 years.
Of course, this would add a bit more to re$ale value overall as it is transferable.

Your thoughts, please.

If I remember correctly you can purchase the additional warranty anytime within the four year 80K basic warranty period. I would hold off for now and see how it goes...

thanks guys

If you wait to purchase after the 1st month, then there is an additional fee of $400??? for "checking the condition and other hidden costs" ?
No wonder there is a small * in the brochure.
This is why I was curious as my vehicle is due to arrive next month.

I still wouldn't do it... but that's me.

Here is my suggestion to you. If you want the added insurance, then opt for the 3 year for $2,800 since it is a much better value.

Don't purchase the warranty now, however. Stick your $2,800 in a guaranteed term deposit of some kind. You will only need an overall return of about 3.5% to cover the $400 inspection 4 years out. This way, you don't spend any money you don't need to today and the cost of postponning the decision is irrelevant.

thxs JTO1

this will be our 1st MB purchase. 1st German brand

I wanna a little peace of mind after warr'ty period as we would like to keep the vehicle as long as we can, unless something better is out?

You're right, the 3 year is a better value.
However, not sure if any banks can give 3.5% during the worst recession years.

I hear ya! On a good 3 - 5 year rate builder you can easily get half way there... I bank with a credit union though.

GLK350-premium pks,Bi-zenons,NAVI,OEM Hitch, Stepboards etc..
I was going to buy 3-yr extended warranty as the price of $2600 + TAX from my dealer.

But I will hold until 1.5~2yrs after the time I bought.

thanks for the update guys.

hey dreamka, which dealer was offering 2600+GST?
I was informed that the business mgr. is only making about 400 on this sale.
Hence, that's why they charge more if you buy after the first 30 days.

got my answer!

I am being able to get some discount on extended warranty.
If I am going to keep the GLK longer than 4 yrs., then logic states that over
6 yrs / 160K = 390/yr (w/discount) or 7 yrs = 380/yr. to cover any warranty issues. (that's about a 'buck' a day!)

Of course when purchasing after 30 days, the cost is more and then it would cost roughly 6yrs @ 480/yr or 7 yrs = 458/yr! (no discount may be offered)

Not too sure about your math there... When I calculate it i get about $3.50 per day.

But if your logic is what will help you sleep at night, then hey, giver!

thanks JT01, I guess, in over excitement somewhere , I calculated total coverage, including factory warranty.

Thanks for the correction.

No problem...

BTW... don't let me or anyone convince you not to get the ext. warranty if you think you should get it. If you see value in getting it, then you should get it.

I didn't so I didn't... but that's me. The fact and I can get it for only a few bucks more later down the road once I see what the maintenance is like is why I didn't.

Definately room to negotiate

We did end up getting the 3yr extended warranty. I have never purchased an extedned warranty before but the peace of mind for 7yrs and road side assistance for my wife was the driving force. I barely even negotiated, just ask the guy to give me the best price he can and I'll take it .. he took of 10% so 2520 plus tax. They were also very willing to negotiate tire plans and other stuff but I declined all those.

okay...the dealer says they will take $150 off any terms.
$500 off their offering of 3rd party warranty.
Not sure who services 3rd party though...
