Well I have a newly discovered pet peeve....
My wife took the Benz to the grocery store today for the first time.
The hatch opened so far that she couldn't reach it to close it without jumping.
She cannot jump as she has a herniated disc from playing golf.....another one of my bright ideas......
She had to get help to close the hatch.

When she got home I caught holy hell. She wants her Murano back.

I rigged a rope loop up but she says it sure is "classy"...... as in tacky.....I have to agree.

Doesn't appear to be any way to adjust it......?????

You can, see page 75 of the manual, "Limit Opening Height of Tailgate"

That's for rich people.
Some of us have decided to cut back on the muscatel for a few months and buy a Mercedes with a MANUAL hatch.

Hahahaha... I like that one!

Back on topic... yeah that's too bad about the tailgate. Perhaps instead of a rope you can rig up a nice leather strap of some sort... make it look like a leather handle loop from the factory or something.

I would argue that it's not the Benz that is the problem here... but I'm sure you siding with me on that will get you nowhere with the wife...

A pet peeve with the command center...the titles of songs do not scroll. I haven't found anyway to set it to scroll in the manual and it's hard to believe that those who wrote the code for this didn't think scrolling was necessary (like every song will fit within their predifined window length).

These peeves are great... so please don't forget to now go over to your "favorites" list and pile on there too!

I think you can close the hatch with your smart-key, so your wife doesn't have to reach the button.

-edit- Wait your GLK has a manual hatch? Sorry I thought they were all power, my bad.

Redrover, sorry to hear that. A lesson learned for not having the wife test drive with you....

On the other hand, I would suggest you may want to look into adding a mechanical opening limiter either DIY or have it done.

Another pet peeve...the mirrors do not "break away" towards the front. Only the rear. I wonder how much it costs to replace an entire mirror??

Most of the newer car's mirrors are built such that you can close them towards the rear of the car or push them towards the front. This is to prevent the entire mirror from being broken off/damaged should you contact some immovable object.

I believe from the manual, it says the mirror does 'break away' by force to front. Haven't tried myself.

My mistake. You're correct. I guess I didn't use enough force to push it to the front.

2010 MB GLK

I've had my GLK for 3 weeks now and love it.

HOWEVER my dash is squeaking over bumps....any idea if warranty covers this?

Thanks in advance,

So far these are the only complaints I can come up with after 10 days of ownership.

-I don't like where the parking brake is located, it seems to be to high.

-My GLK is pretty stock but I still got the Ipod option. I am not to fond of not being able to shuffle the songs of individual playlists. So far it seems that I can only shuffle the songs of the entire Ipod.

-Blinker lever seems a little to low on the steering wheel. I sometimes hit the cruise control lever instead. I am sure this takes some getting used to.

and that's about it...

I'll second on the Parking Brake being placed too high, and the cruise control/blinker lever confusion, especially if you drive different cars most of the week and then get behind the GLK on the weekends.

Am I the only one who feels the auto dimming mirrors get to dark to see out of? Don't have this problem on my other car which has tinted windows.

Also agree with the turn signal/cruise control.

Maybe I am vertically challenged but the seat bottom seems a little long, not a big deal on short rides, but on long trips have gotten uncomfortable. Wish this was adjustable.

Hate to say it cbs001 but either you are "vertically challenged" or you have overly sensitive thighs ... cause the elongated seat bottom is designed to actually make the seating and leg resting position more comfortable on long trips...

Guess MB needs to go back to the design board and take some pointers from other German car makers who offer adjustable thigh support, or I could just man up and invest in a tube of Ben Gay for my over-sensitive thighs.

Too funny...

Hey , off topic here, but how do you enjoy your 335xi. I will be looking at purchasing a sport sedan next year and I am really leaning towards the 335 with x-drive. When you add the M package the car looks pretty damn sweet. Also, the only german luxury sedan I can find with 300hp and plenty of torque in a V6.

I am in love with my 335. Was between this and an M3. After driving both, the M3 was more car than I really needed and the money I saved went into the GLK. The 335 is an amazing daily driver, the all wheel drive is great in the winter, has unbelievable acceleration and torque across the RPM range. But the best part of the car is every time I drive it I get a grin ear to ear. With that said, the new Audi S4 is prob. a better car and if you wanted better bang for your buck, the 135 is $5000 less and handles like a go cart (though resale is not as good).
