Gas Mileage
A tank of gas will get me almost 400kms. I do all city driving in comfort mode. The factory specs says 13.3 L/100kms city. I am not a street racer, I just drive normal. Will it get better after break-in period ?
I know someone is gonna say if you can afford a MB, you should not worry about the gas mileage. I am just curious what others are averaging with their gas mileage.
I do what I would call "suburban" driving.
Traffic lights are typically 1 mile apart for instance, and speed limits vary from 30 to 45 MPh, with the majority @35MPH.
Most streets are boulevards with medians, and many times 2 lanes in each direction.
Still on my first tank and have no idea how accurate MB's fuel computer is, but it shows 16.2 MPG (I'll let you do the conversions

So, of course if you are in city-city conditions with stop signs and traffic lights every block......it would have to be worse.....
I am hoping to get better mileage than claimed.
Simply because of the convenience.
I don't know what other cars you guys drive, but I consider a 17.4 gallon tank to be quite small.
If you couple that with poor mileage, I will be in a gas station more often than I wish..
Does anybody know how exactly many litres are left when the gas light comes on? Seems like about 7-8L to me... so that should go about another 50km.

Therefore it's frutile to compare mileage because no two drivers nor their environment are the same...
And YES, if you followed the break-in period rules, you will see a significant improvement in fuel mileage sometime after 10,000 miles.

How do you find all "down hills"? where do u live?

Yes, I am thinking of changing the oil@ 1.5K = 1K miles approx. However, the dealers are against it stating that the MB factory places a 'better oil and lubricants for the break-in period'. Not who's right or wrong.?

I haven't reset the fuel mileage computer since the GLK was picked up so that figure includes the break-in period. Roughly 50% autobahn, 30% rural and 20% suburban travel.
Ahhhhhhh yes.... Deutschland... where real driving is still respected...
I'll be in Heidelberg soon after Christmas on business... then driving
down to Muchen... then going with friends for a few days of Alpine skiing... then home to where driving is no longer respected.
Can't wait!
No complaints with the gas mileage from my side...I used to have a 5.7L V8 Hemi (Chrysler 300), so spending less at the end of the day
