Getting Sirius
good luck
In Canada, the Sirius option is standalone. If you didn't pay the $400 or so to get it, again your GLK "as is" cannot get satellite radio.
BTW: Sirius and XM are now the same... you get both with the option.

By the way, my dealership sells quite a few base model GLK's for the simple fact at that price you can get a GLK for nearly what a loaded CR-V costs. I wouldn't mind getting a base GLK if there was any way of adding the homelink to it, but sadly its cheaper to buy P1 than try to add it as a stand alone.
But then again if that is the only option.....

I just had Homelink installed at my local stereo store, Car Tunes.
$199.99 + tax.
They merely put the universal Homelink between the headliner and the roof.
Wired the power into the dome light.
Only thing that shows is the 3 mini buttons.
Works good. Has about a 150 foot range.
Works with standard and rolling code receivers.
I bought this car as a grocery getter and a car to go to lunch in.
We have a nice luxury car for more formal occasions.
I can certainly see how this car could function quite nicely as the primary, or only, car in a household. I just love it.
I did have two things tho that were must haves.
iPod (which it came with) and Homelink.
A phone call from the salesman's desk to Car Tunes and that was arranged.
When I bought my GLK, I didn't want the premium pkg 1 so I just got the sunroof and COMMAND NAV. I think they added Sirius as a stand alone option for units produced after June 2010.

the sirius tuner can be retrofitted into the vehicle but it will be pricey. the shark fin does not have the sirius antenna in it if you did not order the sirius
it also houses, nav and the telaid antenna's
as for the best buy route or the radio shack route... it will never be integrated... and comes down to extra modules on the dash... and with my previous comment about domestic and imports ... I have been seeing more and more crap in the MB's stuck to the windshield, dash, or air vents.
Oh, so that you can just get your own radio and use a more complicated and expensive receiver?
there can easily be 5 version of these shark fins...and all you have to do is to pay...for upgrades.

I think its really interesting you have a base model, congratulations. I have a base C class... You don't know me so don't call me arrogant.
At least they could have body colored the thing....

... your question that is.
