Rear Hatch still Broken
I'm bringing it back for the third time this Friday. It still goes up 2 inches and then back down. They can't seem to get it right. Does anyone know if M.B. has issued a statement on this common problem? Thanks

Here is an interesting (not really) thing I noticed. As you know, you have to hold trunk button on the key for a couple seconds for tailgate to open. But you can also hit trunk button (without holding) and then unlock button and trunk opens. This last method doesn't work always. Not sure why and what this means yet...still think there is a way to fix this by some button combo

F18Ben, when was your build date?
Ask your dealer to look up TSB on the hatch issue.
From this forum, for folks who had their motor replaced, problem is solved.
Talk to the service manager and warm up the heat...![action](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/action1.gif)
Good Luck.

I had my motor replaced but since having it replaced the switch on the door doesnt work to close the hatch. So I am going to be taking it back in which will make it 2 times with 1 to go before they can call my ride a lemon.

you prolly know this, but it works to close only when car is on (key is in on position) unlike opening that works when car can be on or off.

Thank you for all your replies!!!!!
On previous visits they told me it was a latch adjustment issue. Now I'm going to insist that they change the motor. My production date was March 09. I will let you all know what happens. Thanks again.....Frank

They have changed motors twice in mine and the problem is now worse. Techs are doing what MB tells them to do, change the motors. Final straw was Hatch stopping half way up and refusing to move either up or down. Could not make it move manually. Stood in pouring rain for 15 minutes before I finally got it closed. That was it . Called MB and asked them to start Lemon Law Process. I'm afraid with all the complaints if they give m my money back it would open the flood gates for everyone else.

Update on my trunk problem
The service manager called me today to tell me that the trunk motor needs replacing to solve the problem. They just got it in and are replacing it tomorrow. I will let you know the final outcome when I pick up the car.

I have had mine open up unexpectidly a few times, at first I thought I must have hit the key fob by accident. Still can't rule that out so I am on the lookout, oh it never happened while I was driving.

I picked up the car from Delray Mercedes service dept today. They admitted they had a number of GLK's with the same problem. The bottom line is that they changed the motor and they said it will solve my problem. I have my fingers crossed. I will keep you updated, hopefully they are correct.

I'm curious. How many people are driving GLK with Hatch that is not working properly? Mine has been in shop for 22 of the 53 days I have owned it. It seems I have read where several people are waiting to bring theirs in when service is due. Why are you waiting?

22 out of 53 days what's wrong with that picture. Why aren't you insisting they give you a new vehicle under the lemon law. I had mine in for the windows and the hatch. They said that the hatch switch or button on the hatch it self should be squeezed at let go to allow the hatch to come up by itself. Never pull on the hatch when you release it. MB said that there are pressure sensors on it to stop the motor if it hits something going up or down. Don't want to knock anyone over now do we.
If you pull up on it to hard and it doesn't take much, the motor stops and the only way to bring it up or down is to use the fob or the switch. Can't manually move it anymore. Well at least that's what they told me. As far as the windows are concerned they could not make the problem occur and they said there were no codes in the vehicle so........ can't fix what they can't find.

to all of those who have the rear hatch problem. I had the same issue, the door would only open halfway and closed only if i pressed the button on the key. Turned out my wife had accidentally set some limited height opening function. To reset it just press and hold the big red button on the bottom of the hatch door for like five seconds until you hear two dings. That's it, it helped me, hope it helps you.

Recenty the hatch on my GLk has been refusing to open at all when I use the keyfob. I hear it struggle, make some grinding gear noises and that's it. I took it in and they replaced the motor for me right away, I haven't had a chance to use it much afterwards but I hope it is resolved.
