New GLK - kinda...loaner/dealer experience

Well I brought mine for service and got loaner for the day. Originally I asked for C class, which I got. It's a nice car I must say.
Couple of observations:
Feels much lower - it's weird as GLK is not really a tall car.
I feel more confident going faster in it and feel more in control, I guess lower cetner of gravity and tighter suspension will do it.
Traffic update was cool but not always accurate and made screen look busy.
C300 is underpowered compared to GLK, and GLK is not a rocket to begin with.
As far as build quality, I couldn't tell difference. Didn't think C was better, like other noted.

So after a day of dirving I noticed a huge bubble in the tire, don't know if it was already there or not when I picked up the car. Meanwhile, MB called and told me to keep the loaner for a few more days as my tailgate issue was holding them up. I told them about the tire and they swapped the C for GLK.

I think it's kinda nice that loaners are fully loaded C/GLK/ML, and none of this Camry BS like some other dealers offer. Also cars don't have those stupid "Courtesy car" stickers all over.

P.S. while swapping for GLK, I saw Mariah Carey's Maybach there for service.

I just booked service A for my GLK this Friday with a loaner too, didn't ask which model, should specify C when I get there. Btw, its CAD$320, equals to USD now.How much is your Service A in the states?

I was wondering what kind rental ppl get when they own S/SL/CL. Giving E63 AMG to owner of C63 AMG is a streach, and I don't think dealers even have AMG loaners.

But if one has E55 and gets Impala or Mazda is BS.

My A service was quoted for $250, which doesn't include much. The guy said oil change alone would be $160.

Also my dealer said there are 2 recalls, one of SRS and one for door allignment (whatever that means). I'll ask more detail when I pick up my car.

The unpublished recall is for alignment of the rear hatch. When I brought mine in for service they gave me a Toyota. They have a whole fleet of them. What BS. Don't think I would go back to my dealer for anything but warranty work. My wife has an ES350 and always gets an ES350 or similar.

Did the Service A last Friday. It cost me CAD $337.94 (included taxes), and the dealer gave me a base model smart car. Don't like the Smart car at all, I should said no to it and get a real car.

I'm a C owner but I'm stalking this forum because I'm considering the GLK as my next car after I had one as a loaner. It's more dog-friendly than a sedan but doesn't drive like a bus like most SUVs.

It's really not a tall car but how you position the seat might play into that. After some quality time with the seat controls, I found a lower seating position that felt more like the C but then I still had to reach a little farther for the shifter and I could see more of the hood in front of me so those two things made me feel like I was sitting higher. Not uncomfortably high like when I first got in it (previous driver must have been about 4'8"), but just higher than the C.

I agree. I usually get a C300 but last time it was snowing so the guy said he was having a GLK brought around for me "so I'd be safe." I told him I appreciated bringing my Mercedes in for service and getting a Mercedes for a loaner. He seemed surprised someone would say that, as if he was thinking "What kind of crappy Mercedes dealership doesn't have Mercedes loaners?"

I came from the Volkswagen world and you wouldn't believe some of the pieces of crap they gave me. A Camry actually would have been a huge step up in quality. When VW introduced the Phaeton, I wondered if those people got the same awful loaner cars. I mean, really, imagine taking your S-Class in for service and getting a base Cavalier with crank windows for a loaner.

Yes, I went to MB Markham. If they give you a Smart car with no power steering and power break, don't do it. Request for a C-class. At least that what I wil do next time.

Got the loaner C300 this morning. Yes, you have to ask for it, otherwise their norm is B200.

Drove 50km on highway, so for found:
1. Engine is noticeably weaker, despite the car is lighter.
2. Noise isolation is not as good as GLK.
3. Handling / road feedback is definitely better, but I would say it is average for a sedan in this size.
4. Sun roof doesn't have the automatic curtain as we have in GLK. Its a manual panel.
5. Have wood trim without aluminum, looks less 'luxury' than GLK.
6. No GPS with 5 inch LCD. Looks a little out of proportion.

Those two things depend on the options the car has. A C with the panoramic roof will have the same power rollerblinds as the GLK with panoramic roof. Same deal with the screen. If the C has the Multimedia package then it has the same 7in screen with GPS that the GLK with Multimedia has (except the C's pops up where the GLK's is fixed).

Yeah, I realized that, just want to comment on these options, NOT generally for C class.
