The comment I made was in response to a presumed Mac owner.
& from the time that I spent researching this, most iPhone owners who are also Mac owners found this to be a perfectly solid workaround.
Took about 30 minutes to read all the on-line guidance for how import contacts from BB, Android & Apple.
Since I don't have an iPhone personally - my wife does & she had Android prior - it was quite easy to send the vcards over via android.
2 minutes to be exact.
It's quite easy if you don't get caught up in the Apple ecosystem.

It is even easier if the nice young lady who delivers your new owners' briefing takes both BlackBerrys (mine & my wife's) and uploads the contacts to the 2012 GLK in a minute or two total. She then went on to show us how to use the Navigation system to read addresses from the contact list and chart directions. A very nice system.

Contacts via Macbook Anyone??
Is there anyone out there who can PLEASE give detailed instructions on how to transfer the iPhone contacts via Mac Book Pro Bluetooth?
I have been able to pair the GLK Bluetooth with my Mac Book, but it pairs as an "audio device", and will not send files. I have the 6 disc, big screen Command.
I went into MacBook settings, and enabled file sharing, Bluetooth sharing and everything else I could think of, but still nothing.
Otherwise, I guess I am now forced try the SD card in the PCMCIA card reader.

Worked for this person...

Can you get your contacts into a BlackBerry or Android? They load themselves. Almost.

Thanks for the above. Still no luck. Going to dedicate today to get to the bottom of this. From what you both posted, it seems like the C Class Command has been updated to work with the iPhone and laptops, and they forgot about us GLK peeps. There must be a setting somewhere I am overlooking why I can't pair with the MB Bluetooth as anything other than an audio device. If I figure this out will post exactly what needs to be checked.

So far came across this YouTube link from a Mercedes Sales Rep. It highlights my "backup plan" with the SD Cards.

You are putting all of your contacts in ONE Vcard? Right? Find a friend with a BlackBerry or Android phone. Dump your contacts in their phone. Upload. Piece of cake.

Epic Fail
OK. Tried EVERYTHING with the MacBook option. NO GO.
Went to dealer who had a Comp USA PCMCIA card, and tried to upload via SD Card. NO GO!!
Turns out I have all my Vcontacts on a too fancy 8GB SDHC card, which is not supported on his Comp USA reader.
Dealer says to bring back next week where he has a tech that has a "Transfer kit" (Guessing that means an old Blackberry).
Looked on MB Mobile and noticed the 2012 C Class can now do iPhone contacts etc., but my guess is that since the GLK is due for a 2013 refresh, they left software stuff alone.?
So kind of stuck as no one I can get a hold of has a Blackberry or otherwise.
Looks like my options will be to buy the MB OEM PCMCIA set up so I can transfer that way in the future.
On a happier note, found out that the same PCMCIA slot can play videos!!

No. A thousand times no. Don't buy the M-B OEM card reader. It is old tech. like most of M-B tech. If you must buy a card reader, find the SanDisk 6-in-1 reader that accepts SDHC cards beyond 2GB.
Did you try the sync contacts to Gmail and then to the car?

I have this and a 16 GB compact flash card.
Works great - use it for music and uploading contacts.
dgiturbo - you said the PCMCIA slot can be used for videos? Have you been able to do that? I've put both AVI and M4V files on the Compact Flash card and they don't appear on the Command screen. Only the mp3's do.

I was able to get my all my contacts & numbers loaded in my 2012 GLK350 by using my blackberry. Same contacts with exception of a about 50+. And now when my phone rings it shows "unknown caller" for about 1 second, then the name & number shows up as to whose calling me. To me, it works great!

This thread is 10 months old now.
Everytime I see it has a new post I open it up hoping MB finally got it's collective head out of it's collective butt and came up with a fix for this.
Instead, it's just another Crackberry shortcut or Mac suggestion.
This is a problem that should not exist! MB should be ashamed!

Sync Contact list from Iphone 4S to GLK 350
I've read the posts about using a Blackberry. I have an old Blackberry and tried using it but CAN'T get it to sync via bluetooth to my GLK350. I went to AT&T and got them to copy over all my contacts from my Iphone 4S to the Blackberry. But when I tried to sync my blackberry via bluetooth to my GLK350, it won't pair up. What am I doing wrong?

I know these steps work on BB Bold.

Sync Address Contacts to GLK350
I followed steps from a previous poster and transferred from Iphone 4S to Blackberry and then transferred to my GLK350. THis did work BUT I've ran into a problem.
IF a contact has more than one phone # (ie: cell & home #'s) then I can't get the voice command to distinguish between 2 and I can't utilize the system. It gets confused and can't handle my request.
It appears to be set up strangely. For example:
HOME: Landline, Work, Mobile, Car
WORK; Landline, Work, Mobile, Car
When I try to just say "Mobile" or "Home" it can't recognize recognize my request. The entire process was done while at MB dealership. They couldn't figure it out either. I spent my entire Saturday trying to get this to work all at the dealership. They even checked for a current software update hoping this would help the situation. NONE.
If a contact has only 1 phone associated with it, the voice command system has no problem. The good news is at least I will know who is calling me when I have an incoming call.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes getting the voice command to actually call who you tell them seems to be a difficult issue with this model. Also updating contacts without deleting everything and starting again.
My wife is used to it now as she only calls a handful of people when driving, and we just wont update the contacts ever. Too much effort to re program the entire COMMAND.
Strange that my 2007 ML handles these tasks effortlessly. Thought we were going forward?

I simply uploaded my contacts from my Blackberry to the car, then paired my iPhone. I know who is calling and so far no trouble if commanding a name to call out. I spent far too much time working with this until someone told me about using the Blackberry. Even MB at the dealership nor the main big boy office...could NOT help me. So stone age, but I'm thrilled I finally got something to work.

I'm not sure where the upgrade occurred, the new GLK or iPhone5, but my address book was downloaded in my 2013 GLK, with the initial bluetooth pairing.
#46
Same here. I was able to load my address book from my iPhone5 to my 2012 C63 AMG when I pared the Bluetooth.
However, the problem I have is that I cannot get the HK stereo to recognize the iPhone5 for either Pandora or iTunes music. I get "Device not Compatible". My iPod works great.
#47
Haven't tried Pandora yet, but iphone 5 + 2013 GLK=great match. I also receive text messages on-screen and if you highlight the message, get to the screen where it won't let you read it because the car is in motion, if you press "enter" (down) on the comand knob you can highlight the choice to have it read to you! Just discovered this feature last week by accident. Was finally able to replicate it today; works great. Haven't figured out if it is Siri's voice or the MB system voice though.

Successfully transfer iphone Contacts to Merc Telephone System
This is how to successfully transfer your contacts from your iphone to the Mercedes built in system. Sync your iphone with your computer to make sure all is up to date. Now put down the phone and only use the computer for the following instructions.
I used an Apple macbookAir(MBA). Using the contacts on the MBA, select all the contacts you wish to transfer across by clicking each one while holding down the cmd key. Once you have your selection, click file-Export-Export vCard and save it to your desktop. i.e all your desired contacts in one vCard file.
Go to the Merc. On your MBA, under bluetooth settings, make sure your MBA is 'discoverable". Now locate the bluetooth logo on your top menu (top right of screen) , click it and move down to "Send File". Find the vCard file you just saved and select.
It will now look for your car's bluetooth. On the Merc, lift the cover for the radio and then push the telephony button on the dash. Using the centre console control, under telephony get to the menu that says "Receive Business cards".
Select "Receive Business Cards". When it askes for a code, input four zeroes "0000" and then on the MBA send the file to the MB Bluetooth. It should start the transfer. If it starts then dont touch anything till it finishes.
I hope you guys come right.
Cheers
