New GLK, few questions on accessories / mods

Just got a new GLK and want to get a few things added.

1. parking sensors. I dont got it, and I think adding aftermarket ones might cause issues on warranty, but since I will be shipping it out of the country, it doesnt matter. Any good ones to order?

2. I got the ipod kit with the regular sound system. Is there a way to upgrade the sound system? what about add the command feature?

3. Can I add the rain sensor, or is that not possible?

4. Any good seat covers?

5. And what about hidden radar/laser detector?

Thanks

c-o-n-g-r-a-t-u-l-a-t-i-o-n-s & welcome to the GLK family!

just curious for all those items mentioned except for the hidden radar which is available from mid-city,and seat covers, why not order during factory option offering?

#1, not sure as MB has enough sensors for airbags on the bumpers too
#2, sound system and COMMAND is an expensive option after production. Still possible if you are willing to spend the $$$$.
#3, rain sensor is behind the rear mirror, and needs professional install with MB wiper electronics (can be done again $$$$)
#4, not sure...what type of seating did you order?
#5, this is available through mid-city

Or you could find a GLK that has been taken down into parts (from an accident write off) and have an MB tech do the install as a package

I picked up a dealer model for cheap, so was limited to what I could have.

Seats are the leather ones, but I scuba dive and get dirty a bit, so I dont want to ruin the seats too quickly

^^ doubt dealer model has real leather, is it perforated? If it is it's not leather. It's very hard to find entry level MB with real leather, they all have MB-tex.

Ah ok
But I would still want to get seat covers for them. Any good ones out there? In addition to the other mods

If you get seat covers be careful what you buy and remember air bags come out of the seats. Don't want to block those air bags.

You can try Wet Okole seat covers. Don't know if they have GLKs, but they make a great neoprene cover.

Our rain sensor freaks out sometimes....! In lite rain or drizzle,it will go slow, then speed up super fast for no reason.... dealer says they have seen this problem on ALL of their rain-sensor cars.... no fix... real stupid

not really.
I'm looking for seat covers, but they seem hard to find for the GLK. I need ones that are water resistant/proof.

I often come back dirty (diving, skiing, outdoor work) and hate to get the seats dirty.

I'm with Jason ... with all our mountain biking, skiing and hiking, we come back to the car pretty dirty and I'd like to protect the seats for these trips. I have no intention to leave the seat covers on full time (I went with full leather for a reason!) but these should keep them clean after a muddy ride!

I've ordered fitted seat covers from AutoAnything.

http://www.autoanything.com/seat-covers/10A52289.aspx

Not sure how they'll work out yet, should get them in about a week.

Keep me posted on how they are and if they are good I'll order a set for myself.

I ordered directly from www.coverking.com; cost about $200 and took less than a week; exactly what I wanted.

They will send out a sample book if you ask.

how does it feel to sit on it? Would it be comfy for longer rides?
I would also use it for a dog, is it water resistant (slobber proof?)

Should have purchased a different vehicle if you're so concerned. Something that you could enjoy and not be so freaked over getting it dirty... like... this maybe?

It feels like a cloth-covered seat; very comfortable and easy to clean, both slobber and dog hair.

Installation is a bit involved because it is such a good fit, but once it's on it's on.
