New member hello!
Hi all,
Just picked up a black/black 2011 GLK 2WD with lots of goodies; love it!
First MB in maybe 15 years; other car is an Infiniti G37 Coupe so this should fill in nicely where that one falls short.
I mostly got this to ferry aroung my 60 lb boxer. Took her out in it first thing and she approves... good girl!
I'll post some pics of the GLK after I get the windows tinted and wheels (20" OEM) chromed; gotta have the BLING!
Here's the boxer (Sonny):
Great forum here; glad to be a part of it!

welcome and enjoy
I was looking to buy G37, but roads are so crappy that opted for an SUV.
tints - yes
chrome - not my cup of tea, that's what GM does to their rims.
P.S. Beautiful dog

How is the back of the SUV with dog's hair? I have couple of dogs but have yet to let them in the vehicle bc i'm afraid their hairs will all stick to the carpeting in the back.

Thanks for the welcome, as well as the compliment to Sonny!
The chrome is the MILF's idea, although I don't mind it on a black car. If GM does it, good for them; at least they have one thing in common with MB!

So far Sonny has ridden only in the back seat, not the cargo area. I've heard if we got rear-ended she wouldn't have enough protection back there. This may change as we settle into the new car.
There are numerous cargo area mats available if you're concerned about dog hair in the carpeting.

Congrats!
I am thinking of getting the front windows tinted, since I just found out is is legal in my state (and this summer has been a scorcher).
Chrome is nice on certain wheels. Others look better in matte silver. I had a set of black racing wheels on the track car (black twin turbo '95 RX-7), which looked great in person but the whole thing looked like a black hole in photos. I upgraded to larger ones and ended up going with matte aluminum centers and polished rim halves. It now is disappointingly less anti-social looking :-)

FWIW, tinting really doesn't do much for heat since it has no insulation value, but it is easier on the eyes and skin. Looks cool, too!

I believe some of the tint film has UV-blocker in it (but am not 100% sure - haven't checked into it in years). That should keep some UV radiation out, which is part of what contributes to heat. Whether that is noticeable or not, I am not sure.

I had my dealer throw in the front tint. I believe it is 25%. Not as dark as I want but if you have the panaroof, it doesn't matter bc you will always driving it with the cover open.

My wife had some health issues that required her to minimize sun exposure. She's OK now but she still has the doctor's letter authorizing darker tint than allowed by CA law.
I'm just looking to match the front windows with the rest so it looks even.

I have a great tint guy in Santa Monica; I'll share what he does after this Saturday.
