Help with Trailer Wiring for a GLK350

Help with Trailer Wiring for a GLK350
I oredered a drawtite hitch and wiring harness for my GLK350 and it is the type that you crimp the wires together with a wire tap. I read in the book that the factory provided a plug for a wire harness, but when I remove the side panels there is NO plug. With that being said I am going to tie into the wires, but they look VERY thin. Does ANYONE have any experience with this issue???? Please respond if you can provide some input! The wires almost look as if they will be cut instead of spliced with.

Ha, Mercedes wanted 2400 BUCKS... I completed the job and it is perfect. Paid 215 for the hitch, 45 for the wireing harness, and 475 for a 4' x 6' perfect little trailer from Big Tex. I did it all for 900 bucks with a trailer. Beat that price!!!!

Would you mind sharing how exactly you tapped into the 12v source? I assume it was done at the rear fuse box. I am looking into completing the wiring on my GLK and researching the subject at this moment.

Just adding to this since I'm going through the same thing. When you order the hitch on the car, it comes with an extra cooling fan and a larger oil cooler done at the factory. When you do it post purchase at the dealer, that's why there is so much labor add-on, it's not just the hitch and tapping into the loom.

I am too. But I'm not going to tow 3500lbs so I'm not going to worry about the extra cooling. The car has a substantial cooling capacity reserve so for a light trailer it's going to be fine.
I have not fished out the wires to attach quickloks. Was previously mentioned the wires are very fine but I can't imagine they would be much different than anythng else, they are powering the same wattage bulbs other cars use.
In studying hitches available, the Curt one looks the best to me. About $200 at Amazon.com

2010 GLK350 Trailer Wiring diagram
Can anyone tell me the lights wire colors for a 2010 GLK350? Im wiring up my trailer harness and Ive seen multiple colors in the feeds Ive read. And where has people connected the power line? Ive read to a 12v outlet and then also to the fuse box under the rear seat.
