Need a new tire!

We got a flat on our GLK the other day. There was a key stuck in the tire, and it can't be patched, so I need to buy a new tire. At least I only have to buy one! The dealership said there wasn't enough wear to have to buy 2 or 4, that's the only good thing. It will be $375 CDN for a new tire plus mounting balancing and taxes. WOW!

So...your tire was keyed ...or... someone gave you her penthouse key and you ran over without knowing! First time for everything

$375 is a good deal considering MB labor rates. The tire is around 250-300.

The final price was $475 with taxes, balancing and everything.
Got the wheel back on today, my wife will be happy, she has been diving my H2 around for the last week!

Naw! Much cheaper than that - the price has gone up since oil prices went up, but I bought two for $370 to the door... TireRack, which is expensive, has'm for $185 - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....0&autoModClar=

But buying from the dealer is a whole different story, especially when you're stuck...

The price you quoted me on was from last year. I just bought 4 new Pirelli Scorpions (20's) from my tire guy for $180.00 each including mounting and balancing.

I just had a nail in my tire. Dealership replaced tire for $212 total (I'm guessing it's low because of insurance), which was then reimbursed by my tire/wheel insurance.

Also this was first time I used roadside assistance. They came, put the donut on. Then I dropped tire off at the dealer. After they replaced it, I asked for roadside assistance guy to bring the wheel back and put it on so I did not have to go back to dealer. Pretty happy with my dealer so far.

No rubbing at all. I posted a few pictures on flickr.
Again, the tire size: 255 35 on 20" rims.

"In my own opinion", it made the vehicle look much bolder or more aggressive.

Anyways here are sample shots

What kind of tires are they? I can't really see that good in those pictures, but they look good! I will be getting wider tires when the time comes that's for sure!

NYCGLk I believe it is still cleared even if one uses 285 (rear).
I had once put a 285 18 35 on the rear and 265 18 35 on the front, the rims came from my SL 55 AMG and they look AWESOME. However, the mechanic advised me that I can use the rims "but" I have to change the tires' size because of the weight issue since the SL's weighs 1000 lbs less than the GLK's. Other than that they fit perfectly fine. Just sharing

Thanks.
I'm sure wheels from SL had different offsets.
Also pretty sure SL and GLK have the same weight of 4200 lb or so.

Definitely correct on the offsets, those are given.
But good point on the weight. I don't know why the guy said no to it.

wait, why are you guys going to dealerships to install your tires? Isn't there indie tire shops that sell and install tires for way cheaper??

^^^I went cuz I have tire/wheel insurance, so I didn't really care how much it would cost.

But the price was very reasonable so I might go to the dealer when it's time to replace tires anyways.

He said no prolly because those were smaller in overall diameter. They are 18 inch with low profile tires, while GLK has 20's with low profile tire. That would throw speedo, abs, traction etc. off.
