Rear Hatch Doesn't Close Completely
Rear hatch doesn't close completely and when you start driving, the red rear hatch open light goes on... anyone else experience this yet?

Common issue. Happened to me and many others. Had to take it in 2 times. Pain in the ***.
They ordered a new motor from Germany but then they discovered that one of the plugs had come loose or was never connected. Just plugged it back.
I'd check myself first.

MB picked it up today and is servicing it. I'll let you know what they say was the problem.
Service said that the cable for the rear hatch came off the motor so they just have to attach it again.

Happened to me this weekend. For the past year, the hatch would randomly not open when I use the key fob. It’s inconsistent, maybe once every 3 months. The motor would go but the door wouldn’t open. This is always solved if I use the hatch button on the car instead. Well this weekend, nothing worked, I couldn’t get it to open and it couldn’t close completely. Was around town shopping and looked like an idiot standing behind the car listening to the motor whine. Finally got back home, got fed up and just forcible pulled the door manually open. It’s been fine since. Will have dealer look at it during first “scheduled” service. Been to too many unscheduled services already in 1 year of ownership.
As an aside, with the cooler weather, if I leave my car outside, I would get a “check coolant” level warning first thing in the morning. Not going to even bother with this. Older folks on their thread knew what happened to me the last time this msg appeared. LOL.

^^^hatch not opening at random times was a very common issue. In most of the cases it would open a few inches and close. There was unofficial "recall" on this. Asked to be fixed during A service, worked like a dream after that every time.
OP here tho has opposite problem with hatch not closing all the way. They prolly have to adjust something so tailgate fits better upon closing.
