17" rims on GLK350

I have from my previous MB200 a set of winter tires on 17" rims and I wonder if I can put them on my new GLK350. Any hint appreciated.
Cheers,

Check the bolt pattern and wheel offset of your wheels to see if they match with the GLK specs. Then check the tire size to see if they match with the GLK's size. If they all do, then you're good to go. But I think not.

As long as the wheels & tires fall within the spec below, then it should fit without any issues.

Wheels: 7.5 J x 17" with +35 offset
Tires: 235/60/17

My owner's manual (page 332) specifies an offset of 47.5mm for a 7.5Jx17 wheel. I'd look for a wheel that is closer to 45-50 mm than 35mm.

The manual does state 47.5mm, because that's the offset of the official MB 17" winter wheels.

With the massive wheel arch & fenders on our GLKs, a 35mm offset will be fine, because it would just push the wheels 10mm further out towards the fender. Rather than choose a higher offset and risk it hitting the struts.

Yes, unless with 35, a tire would rub a fender arch or liner on a tight turn that loads up the suspension. I had to roll the wheel well lips on my SLK55 to preclude such rubbing. I'd just be sure to check all configurations if using less-than-specified offset.

most likely tires for B class are narrower and smaller in overall diameter.

Again... there's plenty of space in the wheel well that a 10mm offset change won't even make a difference.

Other members on here have installed 17" 35mm offset wheels on winter tires from Tire Rack without any problems at all. Check out this thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/glk-class...-question.html

So B class has 215/45/17 tires vs. 235/60/17 recommended for GLK.

According to this:
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Overall diameter would be off by 2.5 inches or 12.5%.

Also 215 width is a kind of narrow for 4200lb SUV. So I don't think B-class wheels are big enough for GLK.

Just drove my GLK with 20"s on it in our first snow fall and they suck..bad. Time to order some 17" wheels and snow tires.

i think load rating on those tires wont be high enough as well from the B

and... my 20" Pirellis did just fine in the snow, of course it wont bite as well as winters but it worked well enough with winter sensible driving procedures

Sorry for responding to such as old threat but thought you may be able to help.

I am looking at getting 17x8.5 on my 2012 GLK350 and use a wheel adpater kit to get the right bolt battern and offset . I dont see an option for an 8.5 width 17 inch wheel. There is an option for a 19 and 20 inch wheel at an 8.5 but not a 17. Whats the downside to using a 17x8.5 and any thoughts on what the offset needs to be?

What tires were you going to use? If you look at the two setups with 8.5" rims you will notice that the wider tire (255) has more offset (52), which tells me that there is clearance issue with the fender. The other tire (235) is paired with a 45mm offset which moves the center of the rim (and tire) closer to the fender. The only reason they'd do that is if having the center of the tire farther out is more desireable. So, depending on your choice of tire, you should probably shoot for something in that range. If your intent is to put a wider tire than 255 on it you're on your own.

You can calculate the location of the center of the tire on some of the narrower wheels to see if you can figure out where it likely should be.

There's a wheel offset calculator right here on this site:
