Nav/DVD headunit on baseline 350

Just got a glk about a week ago, i traded an impractical audi a5 for the more practical glk, however, the glk is baseline and pretty much has NOTHING (i DO have the ipod hookup on the glovebox, but the steering wheel interface is horrible IMO). i miss all of the technology from the a5 and i was hoping to recreate it in the glk...

does anyone know of some way to change out the tiny little factory screen to something more useful? i would really like to find a 7 inch with nav, complete ipod control, dvd, back up camera, etc.

i spoke to a dealer and they told me about the nav 4, but that seems like a waste of money, as i'd really be gaining nothing but nav, which my iphone can do for free...they said the factory UMI can only be added IN the factory and not afterwards...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've been a car guy a long time and one thing I've learned is trying to add non-factory systems is usually such a hassle that getting the factory options ends up being a better deal.

You will find numerous threads here and on other forums about people trying to add Xenon lights, nav systems, back-up cameras... the list goes on. Even replacement wheels is a hassle, what with electronic sensors to worry about.

I know the costs of options seems high, but unless you have unlimted time I think they are a better deal in the long run.

yeah i definitely understand what you're saying, it's just that adding options aren't possible at this point, so i was hoping there would be another option, thank you though, i suppose i may have to go with nav 4

I thought the UMI was something you could get the dealer to add if you were willing to shell out the big bucks? Can anyone confirm?

No it isn't too expensive. I believe it costs a couple hundred dollars. There is no installation as it is plug and play. If you have no iPod connector then that's a different story.

Are we sure we are talking about the same thing? The part alone is like $1200+.
